Chapter 4 Welcome to Hogwarts

~Kacie's Pov~

Once we arrive at the castle Hagrid lead us to the entrance hall where a professor wear green robes was waiting for us at the top of the stairs. She was smiling at us while waiting for each of us to arrive and stand in front of her. 

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup. The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." The professor says to us once we are standing in front of her before walking off behind the doors. After a few minutes the professor is standing in front of us.

"We're ready for you now. 1st year's follow me. You three stay here with Hagrid" The Professor says pointing at Five, Skylar and I before walking off behind the doors with the first years. After the first years have been sorted into their houses we hear the headmaster announce our names. We look to Hagrid and he nods his head opening the door for us to walk in.

"Crashin' the party, guess they lost my invention. Friendly reminder got my own kinda persuasion" I sing as I walk in with Skylar and Five beside me as Hagrid walks behind us.

"Looks like this place could use a bit of misbehavior. Happily ever after with a little flavor. Bad to the bone, with even worse intentions. We're gonna steal the show, and leave 'em all defenseless" Fives sings while walking side me 

"A fairy tale life can be oh-so overrated. So raise your voices and let's get it activated" Skylar sings from the other side of me while walking.

"Long live havin' some fun. We take what we want. There's so many ways to be wicked. With us evil lives on the right side of wrong. There's so many ways to be wicked" Five, Skylar and I all sing together just before we reach the front of the hall. Hagrid smiles at us before walking over to his seat at the professor's table. 

"Skylar Harvey" The professor in green robes says gesturing towards the chair next to her while holding a old hat. Once Skylar is sitting on the chair the professor places the hat on Skylar's head.

"HUFFLEPUFF!!" The hat yells as the Hufflepuff tables starts clapping and cheering as Skylar walks over to the table to seat down.

"Five Hargreeves" The professor says placing the hat on Five's head.

"SLYTHERIN!!" The hat yells and the Slytherin table claps and cheers as Five walks over and takes a seat at the end of the table near Draco.

"Kacie Hargreeves" The professor says as I walk up to the chair and take a seat. The professor places the hat on my had and my heart starts racing.

"Ahh another Hargreeves. I'm sure you want to stay with your brother but perhaps you want to stay with your friends....Hmm...difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage I see, not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes, and a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?......better be...SLYTHERIN!!" The hat says as a breath of relief comes over me. The Slytherin table starts clapping and cheering as I go sit down. I take a seat next to five and than look back up to the professor's table.

"Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! Now, I'd like to say a few words... before we all become too befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I'm pleased to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin... who's kindly consented to fill the post... of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Good luck, Professor." The headmaster says gesturing towards professor Lupin.

"Of course. That's why he knew to give you the chocolate, Harry." Hermione says to Harry.

"Potter. Is it true you fainted? I mean, you actually fainted?" Draco says turning around to face Harry as one of his minions does a fainting action.

"Shut it Ferret boy and for your information he wasn't the only one that fainted I did too. So shut up, turn around and listen to the professor before I throw this knife at you" I say turning around and glaring at him as Ron turns Harry back around while him and Harry smile at me in 'thanks' before turning my attention back to the professor.

"How did he find out?" I hear Harry ask Ron and Hermione.

"Just forget it." Hermione replies to Harry before turning towards the professor.

"Our Care of Magical Creatures teacher... has decided to retire... in order to spend more time with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I'm delighted to announce... that his place will be taken by none other... than our own Rubeus Hagrid. Finally, on a more disquieting note... at the request of the Ministry of Magic... Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the dementors of Azkaban... until such a time as Sirius Black is captured. The dementors will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds. Now whilst I've been assured... that their presence will not disrupt our day-to-day activities... a word of caution. Dementors are vicious creatures. They'll not distinguish... between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must warn each and every one of you... to give them no reason to harm you. It is not in the nature of a dementor to be forgiving. But you know, happiness can be found... even in the darkest of times... if one only remembers to turn on the light." The headmaster says before asking the head students and prefects of each house to escort the first years and any new students to their their common rooms and dorms. Once we were escorted to our common room me and Five went to our dorm and unpacked. (A/N ~ they share a dorm)
