Weeks passed by and there was no sign of him. Every time the group went out he was nowhere to be seen. I figured he was busy, or maybe he felt awkward about the whole 'coat' situation? I was confused to say the least but allowed the thoughts to slip my mind. I was having a good day until I heard the boys talking making me want to forget everything they had just said.

"Apparently Jake's got a girlfriend now."

"Nah, she's just a fling. That's what he told me."

"He told me he loves her."

I felt completely overwhelmed. I felt hurt. Yes there was nothing between us other than a few sneaky glances and our small conversations along with the laughs we had. Even when he let me wear his coat. He never does that. My emotions were a mixture between anger and hurt. I composed myself silently and pretended what they said didn't hurt me.

I wasn't really listening to the conversation when I received a text from my mum.

"Hi darling, I just wanted to tell you I managed to get back in touch Dylan's with mum and gave him your number! I figured you could both try and be friends like you used to when you were little. See you later! Love you."

Dylan was one of my old friends who I used to play with as a baby. We were un-breakable, we spent as much time with each other as we could playing outside or staying over in each others houses. We used to be next door neighbours, until one day him and his family moved away and I never saw him afterwards.

I was glad I could re-unite with an old friend, it was needed to take my mind off the situation with Jake and his new girlfriend. I smiled feeling more improved about my mood.

"So who's got you all smiley?" Emily said with a teasing smile. I just shook my head laughing knowing she would understand I'd tell her later.

Immediately after I received another text, but this time it was from an old friend.

"Hey! Long time no see, how are you?" I smiled reading his text. I didn't realise how much I'd missed him until we started texting.

Hours flew by, I had spent the whole day texting Dylan that I had completely forgotten about Jake. I was kind of glad I took my mind off him, I needed a distraction and Dylan was perfect for that. I wanted to hang out with him but my friends invited me out all week, but maybe he could come with us?

"Hey guys, is it okay if I bring along my old friend Dylan next time we're out?" I said hoping they would say yes, he wasn't a bad guy.

"Definitely, the more the merrier." Jasmine said, smiling.

I nodded thanking them, now all I had to do was ask him. Quickly moving my fingers across the screen I thought to myself, how would Jake react?

Frankly I didn't care. He had been avoiding me and it wasn't like we were together or had feelings for each other. A notification appears on my phone from Dylan, smiling as he replied, "I wouldn't miss it." I felt happy and was ecstatic to see Dylan. I told him the details of when we were going out and what time. Now it was a waiting game.

I arrived home slouching on my couch. I was exhausted. My brain wouldn't stop thinking about Jake all day and who this new 'girl' could be. The situation angered me but I had no right to become involved in his life. I didn't like him and he didn't like me. We just shared the same friends.

I put on my pj's and took my makeup off climbing into bed and getting comfortable. I tried to push the thoughts of Jake out of my head and focus on something else. Dylan. And how I was excited to see him. Though whilst tossing and turning I was not about to let some stupid boy stop me from sleeping peacefully.

And with that I soon afterwards drifted off into a deep sleep.
