After about 30 minutes we arrive at our new school.

It is a large grey building with the school's otter logo plastered on the front.

This school is by far the most boring I've been to.

"Come on Ray, at least try to smile." my brother jabs as he tries to help me out of the car, I shrug him off.

"All of these schools are the same," I start. "The same students, the same bitches who try to fuck with me-".

"Language." My dad intercepts.

I ignore him, "To be honest I'm truly not excited for this one."

Hayden and I say our goodbyes to Dad and we're off.

The grey concrete walls reflect the weather, and the wispy weeds growing between the pavement and the walls do nothing to lighten the mood. Logically placed windows of the same size cover the building. There are so many that the whole setting somewhat reminds me of a spaceship.

When I look closer, trying to catch a glimpse of the students inside, I can't see them - only my reflection.

That's weird, this school has one-way glass windows?

Everyone's faces appear lifeless. They all look incredibly bored with life.

I try to zoom in on certain people's faces. But it's like every person who catches sight of us, their face seems to light up.

"Have they never seen a gorgeous set of twins before? "

Not to be cliché, but everyone is staring at us. And when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. I'm pretty sure I see a dog do a double-take.

So they don't get new kids often, I assume?

"The school's called Otter's Home, what did you expect?" Hayden chuckles through our mind link.

That reminds me, I strengthen my mental walls.

Hay and I are not normal werewolves. We have always been always faster, stronger, and apparently more agile than the average werewolf. Not that we'd really know for ourselves. We've never had any werewolf friends before.

I retreat from trying to analyse our surroundings, and I would've liked to have seen Hay doing the same but he's shamelessly gawking at a bright pink and blue ice cream stand.

"Wait, there's an ice cream stand?" I say via mind link.

Uh oh.

My twin doesn't respond. Not that I expect him to, he loves ice cream.

---------------

The short office lady shows us where our classes are. She has deep red hair tied back into a bun at the nape of her neck and is wearing a tight-fitted office work dress. She looks like she could have been in her early fifties. She seems nice enough.

She flashes us a quick smile and proceeds to go on about our locker numbers.

"Jamie, is it?" She asks, facing me.

I nod, even though it's my middle name.

"Your locker number is 5300, near the science block." The woman declares.

"And Hayden, I presume? Your locker number is 1203 and it's right outside the humanities building, West Wing."

I glance at my map, my locker is all the way in the East Wing. Basically, the furthest possible away from Hayden.

The office lady, whose name I didn't catch, advances to describe where the canteen and the places we could and couldn't go were.

I'm not worried about that, I'm worried about Hay.

As twins, we've always had a way of detecting each other's emotions. And right now, I can feel Hayden's nerves rising. We have always had a thing about being apart from each other, but Hay usually takes it worse than I do.

"Is there any chance we could have lockers near each other?" I ask, hopeful.

"No. What's done is done" She finalizes.

"So, there's absolutely no chance-" I try again.

"No." She turns her back towards us, picks up some sheets, and starts to collate them.

Hay's nerves are jumbling with mine.

So, I say through our mind link "Wait, I have an idea."

"Um, excuse me Ms..."

"Grennfield" She fills in.

As Ms. Grennfield turns around and faces me, I brace my hands on her shoulders and make sure to look into her eyes.

"I really think you should change our lockers," I command.

The familiar hot trickle of power runs through my core.

"I've already said no-" Her whole demeanour shifts as she locks eyes with my own, burning into hers.

"You know what? that seems like a great idea" As if in a trance, she hurries back to her desk and rapidly types something into her computer. She stumbles back around the desk and towards us.

Good, it appears my compulsion is still intact. I'm just glad she didn't notice my eyes fogging up.

"All done," she chirps, "your new locker number is 1204, right next to Hayden."

Satisfied, I grab Hayden by the arm and pull him outside.

He leans against the wall struggling to catch his breath. He looks horrified.

"What have you done?" He whispers. He's always hated it when I used my compulsion.

"What if someone saw us? What if it didn't work - you know what Dad told us" Hay rambles.

"Don't worry," I ease "It all worked out didn't it?"

---------------

First period was boring. We had Math, it was pretty easy.

I don't mean to brag, but Hayden and I are pretty much wizzes at it. Second period was slightly more interesting but third period was by far the most fun lesson I'd had in a while.

I struggled so hard to not burst out laughing in the middle of chemistry.

Not only was Hayden on his third ice cream of the day, but he was also desperately trying to stop it from dripping all over the lab desk. It was a miracle the teacher didn't see him.

Normally, I wouldn't have batted an eyelash at the sight (this happens all the time), but it was the combination of the boring ass day, the dead lesson, and the silence in the classroom that made me let out a soft snort.

This was followed by a significantly louder one.

A few students turned around in their seats, I quickly covered it up with a cough into my elbow.

---------------

The school day continued like that, with Hayden doing stupid shit and me laughing at him. He looks wholly reformed from the incident with Ms. Grennfield earlier.

I don't know what has made me so giddy, I don't usually laugh this much.
