It's quite rare to have a soulmate bond, but Marinette Dupain-Cheng did. She could feel her soulmates pain, but not all of it. The same was to be said for her soulmate. When Marinette was about four years old. She started crying about her wrist hurting. There was nothing wrong with it, but Marinette was still crying. Sabine wrapped her daughter's wrist and wondered if this was the result of a soulmate bond. After that, Marinette was hurting in some way almost everyday. Sabine wasn't only worried for her daughter, she was also worried for Marinette's soulmate. Eventually, the injuries got less and less. Marinette wasn't hurting as much anymore. Once in a while, there would be a bad injury that would require Marinette to stay home due to the pain; but it was predominantly better by the time she was in Francois Deponent High School.(FDHS)
When Adrien first came to FDHS, Marinette was sure that it was him because he did fencing. That theory was proven wrong when Marinette stumbled and hit her leg on the corner of a desk. Adrien didn't even react. Little did Marinette know that a teen in another country winced as a sharp pain appeared in his leg.
One day, Marinette had just sat down in her seat when Alya tapped Marinette on the shoulder. "Girl, you can't sit there. Lila has to, she has tinnitus."

Marinette was slammed into a locker and then thrown to the floor. Marinette could fight back, but it would just backfire on her. Hawkmoth had been defeated and it was only two days before she transferred to Gotham Academy. Feet slammed into her stomach, back, legs, ribs. She curled up into a ball, letting the blows rain down.
"No one will ever love you, how could they!"
"Go throw yourself off the Eiffel Tower, no one's going to miss you."
Marinette tried to ignore the words, but it was so hard. She could feel them sink in and take root.
"Just cut, let your worthless blood flow."
Once the girls finished; Marinette pulled herself up, grabbed her bag, and started to limp home. She slipped past her parents to her room and shut the trapdoor. She grabbed her scissors and didn't even hesitate.
*In Gotham City*
Robin knocked the last thug unconscious and swung up to where Batman was waiting. He landed and then stumbled to the ground. He curled up on himself as invisible blows rained on him. Batman called for backup.
Robin felt sharp jabs of pain in his ribs, back, stomach, and legs. After what seemed like forever, the jabs stopped. Then, he felt dull jabs as if he was walking with the injuries. He slowly sat up and then felt the pain on his wrists. That was the last straw. Robin started crying, not caring that his family was watching. This must have been a soulmate bond. Once in a while, there would be a lot of pain and Robin had felt this type of beating for a couple months now, but the cuts were new. His soulmate was being beat up and was now cutting themself.
"Whoa, Demon-spawn is crying." Red Hood whispered to Red Robin. "Weird."
"I know."
Robin wiped away his tears and stood up. "I don't know who they are and can't do anything to help." He whispered before swinging away on his grappling hook, leaving his perplexed family on the rooftop.

Marinette stepped off the plane and gathered her luggage. She had already sent some of her things forward. The taxi drove her to the apartment Jagged Stone had gotten her as a going-away present. She would still be designing for him, but he said he would miss having her around. She got all her bags up to her apartment and decided to redecorate later.
