I've been walking eastwards for awhile now. Three demons attacked me along the way, but I saw them coming, and quickly took care of them. Movement caught my attention, and I turned around.
The silhouette of a girl around my size stood by a tree, since I could feel the roots underground. She seemed to be examining something, which was probably the leaves. I tilted my head, wondering why a spirit would choose to hang around here of all places.
The girl turned around, and caught me staring. She quickly broke a branch off the tree, and threw it at me. I turned my body, dodging the attack.
"What the hell are you looking at?" She hissed, and I smiled softly.
"Good evening." I greeted, and she scoffed.
"Aren't you supposed to be doing something?" She asked, crossing her arms. I nodded, and she stepped closer to me.
"THEN GO DO IT! QUIT WASTING YOUR TIME STARING AT ME LIKE AN IDIOT!" She yelled, and I jumped at the volume. I sometimes forget that spirits are hostile creatures.
"Jeez. Some dumb human can actually see me, and all she can do is stand there. I'd figure a special human like you would be worth more." She spat, and I only clasped my hands behind my back.
"Were you killed up here by a demon?" I asked quietly, and she froze.
"What's it to you?" She asked, her glare clear in her tone.
"I could find them, and kill them for you." I answered, and she jumped slightly at the offer.
"Why would you do that for me, huh?! What's in it for you?" She stalked closer, observing me from head to toe.
"Nothing. Killing them will bring you peace, correct?" I replied, and she seemed surprised by my genuine tone.
"Yes." She hesitently confirmed. Relaxing her demeanor a bit.
"Then let's find them." I smiled, and the girl froze for a second, taken aback.
"Uh- Fine." She agreed, walking alongside me. I didn't say anything, enjoying the silence. I know a lot of people have died up here, but only few become spirits.
"I only came up here to take this stupid test. Who knew I'd end up like this." The spirit girl next to me spoke up, and I looked over at her.
"You'll be able to rest soon." I assured her, and she scoffed.
"Yeah right. If I couldn't beat him, some dumb girl doesn't stand a chance." She stated, and I only laughed lightly.
"Tch. You're annoying." She looked down at me.

It was the next day, and I had run into multiple demons. The spirit girl was still with me, and was now demanding me to look harder.
"Come on! You're useless! Why can't you just find him already!" She growled, and I smiled, not bothering to reply.
"Wipe that stupid smile off your face!" She yelled, and I ignored her. Spirits are such a handful.
"I smell a tasty human!" A low voice rumbled from the trees. I calmly turned in his direction, already knowing he was there. Judging by the vibrations he gives off, and the weight I felt from the ground, this demon was quite large.
The spirit next to me froze, her head tilted towards the demon.
"T-That's him!" She stuttered, lifting a shaky hand to point in his direction. Of course, I couldn't see who she was pointing at, since she herself was all I could see. It didn't matter though, since I could feel his presence.
