Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood.

I never wanted to be powerful.

I also didn't ask to be a hero.

But apparently the fates don't care about what I want.

Enough moping. Annabeth would probably say something like that. Maybe use Seaweed Brain and add an eyeroll. And add exasperation. Maybe subtract- actually that's too much math.

Back to the point. I was about to explain the first time I got fucked over by the gods. Sorry for the language, but the author doesn't give a damn about your idea of a cute and innocent Percy Jackson. I've been through 2 wars before even having sex because Rick Riordan wrote just enough traumatic shit for children to read but not to be considered a YA book. I think I'm justified in my cussing.

Did I mention I accidentally shattered the fourth wall when I had a minor panic attack that caused an earthquake? No? Okay, well... yeah, I know who you are. Go the fuck to sleep, don't you have shit to do tomorrow? It is way too late for this. Read this later. And for fuck's sake do your homework.

Sorry. That came out aggressive. And now I have gone on a tangent. Fuck you too ADHD.

Inhale.

Exhale.

O-kay. So it all started with the end of Giant War. Well, you could argue it started with the end of the Titan war because I should have learned, but whatever. Rick described the Giant War almost perfectly. We dusted some Giants, got spiked all the way to CHB, survived the fall, then the story changes. First of all- I would like to correct something that offended me and my fellow Greeks. I did not say 'Greeks! Let's um... fight stuff,' okay? I have enough self-respect to not embarrass myself in front of two armies which I have led/hold an authority position in.

Anyways, when Annabeth and I reached the Greeks, sure, there was a cheer, but instead of that bullshit I called, "Ασπίδες και λόγχες έξω. Εισάγετε μια φάλαγγα και δείξτε στους Ρωμαίους πώς γίνεται. " Shields up and spears out. Enter a phalanx and show these Romans how it's done, like the badass I was, obviously. Now that garnered a cheer. The Ares Cabin, led by Clarisse became the first two lines, with their shields locked together and their spears poking through. Next came the Hermes kids and the Hephaestus kids that weren't manning machinery. After that, the campers merged.

Annabeth and I slotted in the center with the Apollo kids, recovering from the previous battle and munching on ambrosia and nectar while we marched. For one, we both have close-range weapons which are useless in a phalanx where giant spears impale the enemy. For two, we knew we needed full power, so we decided to wait until the phalanx broke to move on our own. That doesn't mean that I wasn't using whips of water connected to a shield above the phalanx to catch arrows and slice open monsters to the sides, or Annabeth wasn't constantly shouting orders in Greek to the kids manning the Greek fire cannons and the repurposed bombs from the Ares Cabin.

Eventually the strain became too much for me to conserve the bulk of my power until the boss battle. After warning the Greeks, I released the water in a giant blast that cut a hole straight through the center of the monster army. Although it might seem like a monumental victory, the monsters pushed even harder, and without my water protecting the sides, our phalanx broke.

Then there was only chaos.

Gold and red dyed the army. I had no time to shout orders and the battlefield was covered in shrieks and sobs after the Minotaur's axe severed a blonde camper's head from her body. I had no clue how many monsters I had sliced in half with Riptide, nor how long I had been fighting, nor how many campers had fallen. All I knew was that I had to keep going, because the main event hadn't even come. I kept my mind on the soldiers to my left and to my right and the three feet around me. Any other thought disappeared. All that mattered was the soldiers to my left and my right and the enemy immediately in front of me.
