I used the time waiting for the result to keep me fit. Every day I did my training consisting of 10 push-ups, 10 pull-ups and 10 minutes of cycling, plus a long walk with Tim every day. And finally the result came. I was just about to empty my mailbox when I noticed a blue envelope. I opened it and read it carefully. It was the result of the trial training. I was expecting a rejection, but it turned out differently. I was the only one who prevailed at the trial training and I have now received a sponsorship contract for the coming season. I couldn't quite believe it yet. Two weeks later I went to my first practice session before the start of the new season. The training was even harder than the trial, but I quickly got used to it. After training I had a chat with Marcel Goc. Because with the young eagles I wore the shirt number 23, but with the professionals it belonged to Marcel Goc. He had ended his career last season and now passed the number on to me. I should make my debut in the first game of the new DEL season. In addition, I was amazingly on the starting Six. I was very nervous, but I didn't let it show. Two days before the start of the season, we took the team bus to Nuremberg. There was a final training session in the hall the next day and then the game against the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers was on. We gathered in the dressing room and our trainer gave us a few words on the way. "I know last season wasn't exactly easy, but if we act as a team on the ice today, we can get off to a good start right away." He said. Then the captain Markus Kink spoke. "For some of you this is your first game in a new team, for others it is your first professional game, but we've trained well and now let's go and win the game!" The first 20 minutes were tough. I had a hard time getting into the game. I often made the acquaintance of either the gang or an opponent. In the second third the 1:0 for Nuremberg fell through a bad pass from me. That's not how I imagined my debut with the pros. But then came the last third and everything changed. With a good pass from me, David Wolf was able to make it 1:1. Then the Game went back and forth until the last minute, there were only 20 seconds left on the clock. Joonas Lehtivuori put the puck in our third and then it went very quickly. "Lehtivuori with the Puck, he plays the Puck to Wolf. David Wolf with the eye and the pass to the youngster Julian Launspach. Man is he fast, no opponent comes along. Now he only has the goalkeeper in front of him. Shot that is the victory for Mannheim." said the commentator. I couldn't believe I had just scored my first DEL goal. My teammates clap with me. After I got changed in the cabin, I drove home and fell dead tired into bed. The next training session was due tomorrow.
