chapter 4

I'm sooooooo sorry for how long this took guys, school is kicking my butt and I'm super stressed also I updated a couple of other chapters with grammar fixes  but onto the chapter 

warning contains a brief mention of self-harm

Janes POV

"mate mate mate mate mate"

Ani was very excited after my encounter with the wall. she got so mad when I walked out on him, but it's not like he came after me. 

"Ani, what if he didn't even feel the bond or worse he did but he decided that I wasn't pretty enough for him. I mean he was gorgeous, but he was so scary looking too. I just hope he didn't see me, that way I can avoid him completely" I said to her well getting ready for bed, it was just me tonight, JJ is the beta so he lives in the main packhouse and he's busy and my dad is on patrol duty. our pack is pretty small, nothing compared to the other pack in the area, but I like it much better. the Dark Moon pack is run by alfa Shane and his luna Katlynne, they're very kind, and our pack is all very close due to there only being 50 or so of us left after we were attacked by rouges 2 years ago. my mother died in the attack along with most of our pack and our previous alfa, and the luna taking her own life just months after. 

after about an hour of laying in bed unable to fall asleep, I decided to sneak out and go for a run to my safe place so I grabbed a change of clothes, left the house, and shifted making my way to the lake. it was about 2 am when I  got there so I climbed up my rock, and laid down looking at the moon thinking about my mother. she brought me here when I was 9 after my first shift. she said that it was our place, mine and hers. the night of the attack this is where I hid. I shifted back to my nude form and looked down at my body covered in scars, most done by myself. and then jumped in the lake. it was so cold but felt so good, and I continued swimming for another hour or so until I heard a noise. I looked around and I smelled a sweet smell of rain and honey and Ani immediately freaked out, saying that it's my mate.

but instead of doing the rational thing like going up to him, I hid. I knew for a fact he couldn't pick up my sent well I was in the water so I swam behind a rock and stayed as quiet as possible hoping to god he wouldn't see me naked. 

Seth's Pov

"I wonder why there's a girl behind that rock,"  I said to my wolf  Blakley. 

It was about 3 am, and I was looking for a good place to smoke. I got overwhelmed with pack issues so I went for a run to clear my head. I was thinking about her, the perfect girl who will soon be my luna, and trying to think of a plan to find her again. I turn eighteen in two weeks and I need to have her by then but the "icky thoughts", as my little sister maple calls them, keeps telling me shell reject me or decide I'm not good enough for her or won't want me because I've slept around, and didn't wait for her to be my first. I hope she waited for me, just the thought of another male seeing her like that, I'd kill him.  I walked around the lake to take a better look at the girl, once I finally saw her face my jaw dropped. she was gorgeous, more beautiful than anything I've ever seen. the first thing I saw was her eyes, these big bright Chesnut eyes which I would have gotten completely lost in if she saw me, then her hair, how it fell perfectly around her face, how perfect and soft it looked even though it was wet, her nose, how cute it was lightly dusted in freckles, and pink plump lips. I could kiss them all day if she let me (authors note: yes I used a Bruno mars lyric).  I mentally scolded myself, I can't be thinking things like that when I know I have a mate at school. I was just about to ask why she was out there but then I noticed something or rather a lack of something. she had no clothes. she must be freezing, naked in that water this late at night, but I can't make out a scent from her, I have no way of knowing if she is human or not, if she is its way too dangerous for her to be out here, but if shes a wolf and I attempt to scare her off then she could get violent.  

"screw it," I said to myself and shifted "its safer for her to get out, she couldn't hurt me anyway even if wolf form, she looks quite small so I'm sure her wolf is too, me being an alfa and already being 6'5 could easily overpower her if need be. I stepped out into a clearing and growled lowly in hopes of scaring her off, she looked over and jumped out of the water, and covered herself up. 

"so she is human," I said to Blakley

"no, wait"  he replied

at that moment, she shifted into a small white wolf, so small I thought it could be a pup if I hadn't seen her moments before. 

"she's a runt!" I said, "I haven't seen one in years"

"don't call her a runt, that's rude"  Blakley snapped at me

she started to bear her neck at me and walk backward tail between her legs, that's when I smelled it. cherries and vanilla, the closer I got to her the stronger it was, then she took of bolting. I tried to chase her but she crossed into her Territory before I reached her. 

"she has to know I'm her mate, why did she run"

I know what she looks like, I'll find her. I have too

then it hit me like a pound of bricks. she ran knowing I'm her mate. 

"Did she reject me?"
