The boys exchange a look and I raise an eyebrow to urge them to speak. Ben bites his lip nervously and Chris takes a deep breath.
"Harry kind of showed your Mom everything on social media and he said all this.... shit... about you to rile your Mom up and keep you away from your father. He basically planned it all to get you back here and not in Italy." Chris said in quick breath.
"What?" I shout, "Why does Harry even care? He was the worst out of all of you!" I exclaim. It doesn't make sense. Harry has been nothing but rude to me, Chris and Ben included. Along with Zach and Will. But why two of them are telling me this, I don't know?
"So why are you telling me? Harry's your best friend." I roll my eyes.
"We aren't really friends anymore. He said some really messed up things about you?" Ben rubs his elbow while speaking.
"Yeah? What did he say?" I question.
"I'd rather not say." Ben replies and Chris avoids my gaze.
"Whatever. You'll tell me at some point right?" I glare.
"Sure." Chris says but not too confidently.I sit back down on my bed and close my eyes. I feel their eyes on me but I don't bother to make them aware. I try to take everything in. So much has happened in 3 days it's so confusing.I run my hands over my face and let out a long sigh. I hear Chris and Ben fidget a little and I finally open my eyes to see what their doing.
"Chiara, you should probably go home before Harry makes it worse." Chris finally speaks up.
"How would he know I'm not home anyway unless my Mom told him." I say with a hint of snark laced in my voice.
"Oh... you don't know?" Chris looks to Ben."I don't know what?" I lean against the wall with my arms crossed.
"Your mom and Harry's dad-" Ben begins before I cut him off.
"You're kidding!" I shout, slamming my hand onto the wall."Yeah, I can drive you home?" Chris offers.
"No I'm walking." I state, picking up my bag and leaving the room. I notify the lady at the receptionist but still pay for wasting her time. I leave out of the main entrance and take a breath in the fresh air.I look to my right and see that there's no cars so I cross the street with my arms folded, trying to keep myself away from the reality of the world. I run my hands over my face and pinch the bridge of my nose. I hear rapid footsteps behind me but I choose to ignore them.
"Chiara!" Chris and Ben shout after me. I turn around and face them.
"What!" I throw my hands up into the air, frustrated.
"Just let me drive you home. I can make an excuse so you don't get in trouble. Please?" Chris pleads.
"Fine." I roll my eyes.I take a seat in the back and lean my head back. Closing my eyes, waiting whats in store for me when I get home. Mt thumbs twiddle together as I notice we get closer and closer to my house. I look in the opposite direction pretending to be anywhere but here. The car comes to a stop and I open my eyes.
"What's your cover story for me then?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Uh... haven't come up with that one yet." Chris looks down uncomfortably.
"Chiara, it will be ok." Ben tries to comfort me and I hive him a half smile.I open the car door and make my way up to the door. I hear Chris and Ben behind me and I send them an awkward glance. I reach the handle and open the door. I peek my head around the door but the house is silent. I pull my head back and look at Chris and Ben.
"No one's home?" I say, confusion laced in my face. The guys also look confused. I step inside, leaving the door wide open.
"Hello?" I call out but silence falls upon us. I nod for the guys to come in and the stand awkwardly in the hallway. I walk over to the kitchen and find a note.'I was out last night. Assumed you went somewhere this morning, you weren't home. If I'm not here when you're back, I'm at the Hunt's house.'
I groan as I read about Harry and screw the paper up, tossing it away. I roll my eyes, kicking my shoes off and laying across the whole of the couch. I let out a deep breath. I hear Chris and Ben shuffle awkwardly and I scoff.
"What did the note say?" Ben asks nervously.
"She didn't even come home last night. She's at Harry's now." I say, cutting to the chase.
"Oh. Right." Ben nods."You guys should go before my Mom comes home. She'll flip if she saw you. She went mad with Romeo." I become quieter as I realise I mention Romeo.
"Okay. Text me if you got any worries." Chris says.
"Don't have a phone." I shrug.
"What?" Ben shouts.
"She took it." I roll my eyes.
"I'll give you an old one of mine, in case of emergencies." Chris looks at Ben then at me.
"Thanks."I walk them to the door and give a sad smile. I shut the door and I feel all the weight on my shoulders pull me down again. I run upstairs and back to my room. I look around and feel so lost. This doesn't feel like me. I look at my bedroom that hadn't changed since I had left. Something about this room makes me feel uncomfortable.
I guess I could do with a little redecorating. I look around a little, trying to find inspiration of what to do. I rack my mind and tug at my hair. You know what, I'm going to the store. Before I leave, I change into some different clothes and grab a pair of shoes. I debate whether to write a note or not.
Choosing not to, I leave and lock up. I know when I walk around a little I will remember my way around. Part of me had gladly forgotten the area and being back here made me miss Italy more and more.
