"This looks like the punk from the DX my girl goes to see." The soc's voice replays in my head. I shoot up and find myself panting and sweating like a pig. "Calm down there Soda, you're all right." Dallas' voice says, almost like it is stricken with care, but not quite.
The curtains are still closed and Johnny has shifted positions, now he is all cuddled in a ball facing the other way, sound asleep.
"What time is it?" I ask Dally, rubbing my eyes. "Too damn early. Go back to sleep." He mumbles and leans back again. My feet are still rested on him and I feel them move with every breathe he takes.
My head falls back again, but this time I can't let sleep over take me. That was the first time I have ever been jumped. I mean, it was bound to happen sooner or later; almost everyone in the gang had been jumped now. Darry forever ago, right as he decided not to go to college, Two-bit a year ago, Steve a year ago, Johnny two months ago, and even my young fourteen year-old brother got jumped less than a month ago. I could've learned from that. But why are the soc's choosing this year to be more aggressive with it, they could of killed Johnny! I bet he would have died if we didn't find him that night. Poor boy would've bled to death. And man did Dally get pissed about Johnny being in that shape.
I was scared to death when it happened. My heart stopped and all mighty time had froze, the only thing that mattered was that moment and to not get hurt, which was a success with only my throat being cut a tad and a sore back. Now that was what heaven was after being jumped. Not losing anything and being able to walk away from it with a few scratches and bruises, because those heal. But the terror from it doesn't.
My thoughts continue on to wondering if all the other guys were scared when they got jumped. Heck, I'm usually the one who keeps it cool and makes everyone laugh but I was scared to death in that moment, pretty sure I was going to die. Good thing Dally came.
Dallas Winston.
He has a police report a mile long and thank god for it last night. Soc's don't back down easily once they have jumped someone, usually it'll take twice as many as them to get them to back down. Or just one Dallas Winston.
Everyone knows Dally. He is our buddy though. Spending three years in the rough parts of New York, he came straight here and found us, good thing he did or he'd be in so much crap he would possibly gotten a death sentence by now down there with the rough gangs, gang rivals, drugs, everything. He really got the fighting reputation down there. He is so strong it's crazy, his body looks great too.
Now that I come to think of it, Dallas has never had a girlfriend, not that he has ever mentioned. He doesn't ever talk personal or anything, but whenever Steve talks about Stacy or Two-bit talks about a girl he has had his eye on, Dally just backs up and looks at me casually. I don't know if that's because he is expecting me to say something or not, but I don't mind it.
His eyes are deep, usually cold and filled with an ever burning flame of hatred to everyone and everything, besides Johnny. That man is in love with Johnny. Not like what you're thinking though. Dally is like Johnny's older brother, caring for him and protecting him. Loving him and always checking up on him. This past year though, the hatred has started disappearing when Dally looks at me too now.
There was this greaser girl down at the DX once flirting with me on a regular basis, hasn't been back since Dally showed up that one day though. She was actually a real nice girl, just born in the wrong place. She came everyday around two besides when the soc's show up. But one day she tried to kiss me, I back up though, not wanting it. No girl has my heart right now and I wasn't looking for one to take it, either. When the girl insisted on kissing me, she took my shirt and pulled me to her. Steve was laughing his ass off and I didn't like it. I was strong enough to push her away and I did so, but after I pushed her Dally was right there and he punched her. "That wasn't necessary Dal." I remember telling him. But I was kinda glad he did it, she hasn't been back since and I don't want her back.
