I followed him into the hallway, his back facing me as we headed towards the dining room. Neither of us spoke, we didn't even spare a glance or a look. I furrowed my brows, glancing up at him from behind, silently hoping he would turn to me or catch my gaze.

Nothing.

The walls around us seemed to be getting smaller as the silence continued between us.

Picking up the pace, I caught up to his side, my eyes peered up at him, almost desperate to hear his voice or catch his stare. He didn't even seem to be acknowledging me. My mouth opened to question him, but I quickly shut it, knowing it wouldn't do any good.

Why won't you look at me? Why are you pretending I'm not even here?

I pushed away my thoughts, not truly understanding his behavior. One minute he's perfectly fine, talking and interacting with me. But now he's just... completely changed out of nowhere.

I swallowed harshly as we approached the dining room, Ciel, Soma, and Lau sat at a long table as they spoke amongst each other. I drowned out there talking as Sebastian pulled a chair out for me, glancing away I sit down, a dish sitting on the table in front of me.

Lau sat to my left and Ciel sat to my right while Soma sat on the far end of the table, Agni standing at his side.

"But... Meena is always by my side, she's just like an older sister." Soma's eyes dropped down to the table.

Ciel rested his head on his hand, an uninterested expression loomed across his face. His eyes soon fell on me, as well as the others. "Ah, I'm glad you could join us (y/n)" Ciel greeted, his attention pulled to me.

I matched his gaze nodding, "My pleasure, I apologize for interrupting so please continue." He raised a brow at my bluntness.

"Alright then" turning his attention to Soma he laid back in his chair. "Tell me what happened." Soma clenched his fist tightly, his brow twitched as he struggled to find his words.

"They took Meena away with them!"  He shouted, waving his hand in a quick motion.

I don't blame him, he must feel lost looking for Meena here. I glanced at Sebastian from the corner of my eye, he stood silently as they all talked amongst themselves. I guess I've been feeling a little lost myself...

Soma gathered his emotions and continued,

"3 months ago a fellow took interest in my Meena after spotting her in my castle...he took advantage of my absence while I was outside of the castle and shipped her to England!"

"In other words, he brought the woman back to England?" Ciel questioned.

Soma took a sip of his drink, "Correct. I'm planning on bringing her back to the country with me."

If only he knew...

Ciel pondered over his next choice of words. "but you are just kicking a big fuss about a female servant." His words seem to hit a nerve, Soma looked up swiftly with a surprised expression.

Soma's eyebrows creased in anger, he sat up and slammed his hands on the table, causing the dishes to jump lightly.

"This is not a minor matter! The castle is like an empty box without Meena around!" His brows were knitted tightly as he stepped over to Ciel, placing his shaking hands on his shoulders.

"Do you know the despair I felt when I was forced to separate from her?!"

"I don't" Ciel unfazed by the ordeal sat up from his seat.

"There are some things you can never get back no matter how much effort you put in, and there are feelings of despair that you can never shake off"  Ciel pried Soma's hands off of him and turned away,

"You're probably unable to comprehend that."  He walked to the dining-room door, placing his hand on the doorknob.

"But..." Soma muttered. Ciel peered back at him. "Even if that is the case... I still do not want to be alone in that castle of mine." His eyes watched Ciel pause before he let himself out of the room, the door closing with a soft click.

Ciel's right, no matter how much effort I put in, the people I care about can still disappear.

I eyed my untouched dish, the silence is almost unbearable. Clearing my throat I edged myself off my seat,  "Well, I'll be off then."

Lau frowned, "But you haven't even touched your food"

His worry makes me want to sit back down and discuss our next plans, but with everything going on, I don't think that's possible considering the circumstances. "If you need me, come find me." I walked off, not sparing a look back, not catching the side-eye Sebastian gave me.

My back pressed back against the door, I rubbed my face with a sigh.

Well, what now?

-Time skip-

The air was cold, and the room was dark. I twist and turn trying to get comfortable in the bed. It was proving to be difficult as time went on. I grumbled with a sigh and threw the sheets off me. Soma and Agni had left already, leaving Ciel and I to head to bed. But of course, I couldn't stop thinking about Sebastian.

"Damn  demon..." I sat up and peeped out my window through the curtains. The sun had already set and the moon was up high, its light reflecting off into my room. Closing the curtains I walked over to the door and let myself out.

I ventured down the dark hallways, eventually finding myself in front of Sebastian's door. I remember the first time I was in a situation like this, it was after I had my first interaction with the voice from my dreams.

But this time, I'm trying to understand why Sebastian has been acting like this.

I knocked on the door and called out Sebastian's name.

Nothing but silence answered me.

"Hello? Sebastian?" I knocked, but again nothing came.

I huffed, feeling defeated. I looked down at the ground and stepped away from the door.

Did I do something wrong? What could I have possibly done to make Sebastian ignore me?

I sauntered down the corridor, an eerie feeling creeping up on me, I turned a corner into another hallway but was abruptly pushed. I fell back harshly as I had walked into something.

No, someone.

I looked up from the ground up to a tall, dark, figure. Its hollow eyes boring into my (e/c) ones. I sat there on the floor completely frozen and filled with shock.

Its body was like a cloud of shadows, but it soon disappeared into nothing, leaving me to sit there in shock.

My eyes traveled to something it left on the floor.

A small necklace with a key attached lay in front of me. I edged myself closer to it and picked it up, pulling it to my eyes to observe it closely. It was just a key, but to what?

I got off the floor and headed back into my room, no longer feeling safe after that had happened.

??? POV

I watched quietly as she picked up the necklace. Her eyes looked for any details that could show what it was for. She soon retreated to her room, I smiled to myself.

You'll do perfectly my dear, (y/n).
