CHAPTER SIX
We got to Joshes' house in twenty minutes. The ride there was silent but I didn't mind, I just wanted to think for a while. When Josh pulled up on his driveway I was surprised that his house was smaller than mine. I was kind of expecting like this mansion of a house since he was popular, but I guess that was only in movies. I just sat in the passenger seat waiting. I didn't really want to go in his house for some reason the thought scared me.
Josh switched off the car and opened the door. When he saw that I didn't do the same he got back in the car and gave me a look. "What's wrong? Don't want to go in?"
"Ummm..." I tried to form words I could use to say but came up with nothing.
"Okay look, it’s not messy or anything. And my parents... Well they won't like eat you or anything."
I laughed at this and unbuckled my seatbelt. Either way I had to go in there to finish the project. I followed Josh up the porch and waited for him to unlock the door. As soon as he opened the door something jumped out and into his arms. I jumped back surprised.
"Joshie!" I hear someone scream. Josh turns to me with a little girl hanging by his neck.
"This is Emily, my little sister." He told me, "Em this is Rain, say hi." She looked up at me and I was surprised by how much she looked like Josh. They had the same light hazel eyes and the jet black hair. But she had a much more feminine face structure. I just wanted to hug her to death.
"Aww your adorable." She looked about five years old. And she was hiding her face behind her hair like she was shy. She reminded me of myself! I just wanted to hug her!
Josh made Emily face him, "Em, you know it’s not nice when you don't say hello to our guest." She gave him a sad face and my heart just broke for her. Josh matched her look with his own and I almost laughed at how cute they were being. After a few seconds it looked like Josh won because she looked at me and said, "Hi Rain. Are you Joshes' girlfriend?" I stood there shocked that she actually asked that, I looked at Josh and he gave me a small smile as a blush crept on his cheeks. My heart started to beat faster and I couldn't figure out what to say.
"Umm, don't mind her." He said as he put her back down and she ran back through the door. "She asks that to all the girl that come over."
Once he said that I found my voice and asked, "So how much girls do you bring over here anyways?" I said this with a teasing tone. Josh looked shocked when I asked this and I laughed as I pushed past him into his house. I heard him follow me in and I stopped in the foyer to take off my shoes. I looked around his house, it had a homily touch to it. Really modern. I turned to Josh, "I like your house, it nice."
"Thanks." He kicked his shoes off and said, "Well let's start this project, I set everything up downstairs." He walked down the hall and opened the door beside the staircase. I followed him down and saw that the basement must be his room because there was an unmade bed, a foosball table, a drawer pushed against the wall, a flat screen tv at the other end of the room and a table at the centre with our stuff for the project.
"Is this your room?" I asked anyways just to say something.
"Yea, sorry its kinda messy." It didn't look that bad, just clothes thrown everywhere.
"It doesn't really matter. But you might want to hide those boxers just lying on the floor." As I said this he frankly looked around the room, I started to laugh and he gave me a funny look.
"That wasn't funny!"
“It was!” I said gleefully. I made my way to the table with all the supplies we needed and sat down on the hard wood floor. Josh came over and sat down across from me while I started to take notes out of my bag. “Okay, I already made a chart for our observations, and I already finished the notes to go with the presentation.”
“So basically you did half of it already.” Josh said, and I thought I heard a hint of annoyance in his tone. I looked up from my notes and up to bright hazel eyes. I felt my heart beat faster and my breath quickened.
“Ummm…” I couldn’t take my eyes off of Josh and I couldn’t remember what to say. I looked down at my lap blushing a little. This wasn’t normal for me. I had a little crush on him, but now spending so much time together he seemed to affected more than before.
“Rain!” I let out a little scream as Josh shouted out my name.
“What?” I looked anywhere but at him.
“You don’t think I’ll actually help you. Do you think I’m that stupid?” I finally looked at him. I was shocked that he actually said something like that. He was mad and I didn’t know what to say to him. I didn’t mean to do all the work, it was just what I did.
“I-I didn’t mean to make you mad.” My voice was smaller then I wanted it to be. I could feel myself starting to cry. It was stupid but I couldn’t help it. He was mad at me and I didn’t want him to be. I turned my head away from him biting my lips to stop them from quivering. I heard movement from his side and felt the vibration as he walked around the table.
“Rain.” He whispered into my ear. My heart skipped a beat, but I still wouldn’t look at him. I didn’t want him to see the tears that were threatening to spill out of my eyes. “Rain.” He whispered again. He felt closer this time. And I had to hold my breath to keep it from quickening. “Rain. Look at me.” And he turned me towards him. I kept my head down this time and I was forced to look at his socks. He was sitting on the table. I heard the table creek a little as he leaned down. I felt his breath on my face, “Rain. Don’t cry. Please.” There was eagerness in his voice and I finally looked up at him. I was all too aware how close we were. “Rain.” He said again and leaned down and kissed me.
