Chapter Twelve

I collapsed on my bed, which seemed like I've been doing that a lot these days. After my charming brother finished harassing Josh, he took me home not wanting me to sneak back to his house. As if I would do anything with Josh besides kiss! A few minutes later I felt my eye lids going heavy and I had a dreamless sleep.

When I woke up it was five in the morning, I hate Mondays. Why did I have to wake up so early? I don't even know what woke me up but since I knew I wasn't going to sleep again, I got out of bed and took my time taking a shower. Once the hot water started turning cold I turned off the water and got out. I wrapped the towel around me and walked over to my room thinking of what to wear to school. It was getting colder out and Christmas break would be starting next week. I didn’t want to think about the fact that I would be transferring in February, what did that mean for Josh and me? I didn’t tell him I was transferring all the way to New York, would he be upset? I might as well tell him at school today, or maybe after school just in case he freaks out about it. No point in causing a scene, I shook my head, Josh wouldn’t cause a scene over this. He’ll probably find himself another girlfriend when I leave. Not that I was his girlfriend or anything. I shook my head again trying to clear it, I probably looked like an idiot.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

My alarm blared out causing me to jump. Was it already six already? Wow I’ve been thinking too much. I turn my alarm off and I go over to my closet and picked out a pair of dark washed skinny jeans and my red cashmere sweater that stretched out just above my knee. I went over to my dresser and combed out my hair, ugh it was getting too long and it hasn’t even dried yet. I decided to let it air dry so my natural waves will look nice and not look like I didn’t brush my hair. I grabbed my bag and books and headed downstairs, I needed to finish the homework I neglected last night if I wanted to keep up my grades. I walk over to the kitchen and see that my mom was already cooking eggs and my dad was just finishing up. “Morning.” I say as I kiss my dad on his head and walk over to kiss my mom on her cheek.

“Morning Sweetie.” My mom says beaming at me.

“I heard you wake up pretty early, didn’t you sleep well?” My dad asked looking concerned at me.

“Yea, I just couldn’t fall back to sleep so I decided to take a shower.”

“Okay. Have a great day ladies.” My dad kissed my head and then kissed my mom good-bye as he left for work.

“Bye dad.” I start taking my math homework out and finish all of it in 10 minutes. Math was my best subject so it wasn’t hard for me. After I finished my mom placed a plate of eggs and sausage in front of me. I smiled and thanked her. “Do you want a ride to school?” Mom asked.

“No I should be fine. Have a good day at work!” She nodded and headed out the front door. A few minutes later I hear the door bell ring. I smiled to myself knowing exactly who it was, and I grabbed my stuff and went to get the door. Like I thought Josh was standing there smiling at me.

“Hey Cutie.” I rolled my eyes and closed the door behind me.

“Hey.” I said while I walked pass him and towards the car. It was cold and I didn’t want to be out freezing. But Josh grabbed my hand and crushed me to him, I looked up and saw his eyes boring into mine. Before I knew what I was doing I reached up and kissed him. He seemed shocked because I don’t usually start our kisses but then he responded and wrapped his arm around my waist. I put my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. Despite the cold I can feel the heat coming from Josh’s body. But all too soon he pulled away and puts his forehead to mine.

"You're freezing." He whispers and takes off his basketball letterman jacket and puts it over my shoulder making me feel a little less cold. I wonder if he was cold or not.

"You know my house is right behind me so I can just go in and get a jacket."

"Well then I'll just take my jacket back.." He said trying to get his jacket back but I step away from him shaking my head.

"No, its fiii-" I suddenly slipped on some ice on the drive way. Before I can catch myself or before Josh can I hit my head hard on the concrete. I heard Josh say my name before everything went black.
