Chapter Fifteen

After Josh left I got out of the bathroom and went to the door to open it. Some part of me wished he was coming back, but when I looked outside his car wasn’t there anymore. I sighed, I guess it was my fault. Did I really expect him to come back when I told him to leave? I shut the door and locked it, making my way to the kitchen to get some food. I haven’t really eaten all day so I was starving. I got all the things I needed to make a sandwich and turned on the radio that was beside the sink. I softly sang along with lady gaga as I made my food.

I sighed again, I guess I’ll call Josh after I eat and tell him the dinner is still on. “Ughhh!” I still needed to tell my parents and make dinner, and hopefully my annoying brother doesn’t come home. I don’t need him making things uncomfortable. After making my sandwich I sat on the couch and flip through the channels before finally picking a re-run of vampire diaries. I absentmindedly ate my sandwich while watching but I wasn’t really concentrating on the show. I needed to call Josh and tell him I was sorry. I put my plate down on the coffee table and ran up to my room to get my phone. It was on my bedside table and I picked it up and called his phone. A sudden blaring made me jump, “Holy shit!” I screamed startled by the sound. I look around my room to see where the sound was coming from and notice Josh’s jacket on my couch. I went to it and picked it up, his ringtone was next to you by Chris Brown, I smile and hanged up my phone. I went through his pockets until I found his phone, it had one miss call. I laughed when I saw the caller id, Josh is too cute. He put me as ‘Mine’ in his contact list! I picked up my own phone and scrolled through my contact list until I found Josh and switched his name to ‘Yours’. I bet he never thought I’d see this and I won’t tell him I did, just a little secret I’ll keep to myself. I put on his jacket and dialled his house number with his phone because I didn’t know it. I waited for someone to pick up after the fourth ring I was about to hang up when I heard a familiar voice answer. “Hello?”

“Oh hey, Melody I don’t think you remember me but this is Rain. Is Josh there?”

“Rain! I haven’t seen you around the house in forever! I was getting worried I scared you off or something.” She said laughing at the end.

“Oh no.” Giving a small chuckle, “Josh never invited me to your place again. So...”

“What?! Josh you suck!” She screamed to Josh who I was guessing was in the same room as Melody. “Rain, you’re welcomed here any time!”

“Okay thanks.” I smiled to myself, “So is Josh there?”

“Yea, he is. But I’m not going to give him the phone just yet.” She said giggling.

“Oookay,” I said, not really knowing what to say now.

“So Rain, what did my brother do to you? He came home looking really depressed.” I heard Josh scream Melody’s name in the background and some commotion. “Josh I’m talking to her!!” Melody screamed and I had to pull the phone a few inches away from my face.

“Give it Mel!” After I heard some more screaming and then a bang.

“Mel!? What happened? Is everything okay?” I asked concern laced in my voice.

I heard laughing, “Yea, everything is all good Rain. Josh jut tried to take the phone from me but I ran into the bathroom and locked him out.”

I sighed in relief that no one got hurt. “Oh that’s good! I thought someone got hurt.”

“Well I kinda elbowed Josh in the stomach but no worries he’s a big boy.” She said, “So tell me Rain, what happened?”

I chewed my lips not really wanting to talk about it, “Well I just got mad at him and kicked him out but you know it’s not a big deal. I was just calling to tell him sorry.”

“Oh come on Rain!” She groaned, “Don’t give me that! Why did you kick him out? Did he try something on you?” I blushed and couldn’t come up with anything to say.

“Melody! Get off the phone and let me talk to Rain!” I heard Josh’s voice on the other end.

“Shit. Crappy house phone. Josh, Rain was just telling me how you forced yourself onto her.” Melody said.

“What?!” Josh shouted in surprise.

“I wasn’t!” I said quickly before he gave anything away to his sister. “Mel was just guessing why I kicked you out.”

“Mel, you’re so annoying. Get off the phone now.”

“Josh! You’re no fun! Bye Rain! And if Josh does anything tell me and I’ll kick him out of the house.”

“Bye Mel.” I said and waited to hear her click off.

“Rain, I’m sorry.” Josh said as soon as Mel was gone.

“No, I was calling to apologize to you. I kind of over reacted.” I said lying down on my bed and smelling his jacket.

“No. I’m the one that needs to apologize. I should have listened to you. I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. I forgive you,” I smiled picturing his puppy- face “You left your jacket and phone here by the way.”

He chuckled, “Yea I noticed when I left your house. I didn’t want to walk back in and be like ‘forgot my phone’”

I laughed, “I was hoping you would though.”

“I wanted to give you time. Anyways you kicked me out, you seemed really mad.”

I sighed, “Sorry about that. I just didn’t know what to do.”

“Rain, don’t apologize! You have nothing to apologize for, okay?” His tone was so demanding.

I just whispered, “Okay.”

“So can I still come over for dinner?” He asked.

I smiled, he still wanted to come and meet my parents. He must really care about me. “Of course!”

“Great,” I could almost hear him grinning “I’ll be there around six.”

“Six it is, don’t be late or my parents will disapprove of you already.” I said light heartedly.

“Will they really?” I laughed at the seriousness in his voice.

“No, but don’t be late.”

This time he laughed, “Okay, I’ll see you then. Bye Rain.”

“Bye.” I hanged up the phone still smiling.
