Waking Up in the Fearamid

I blink open eyes crusted with sleep, yawning and stretching. I don't think I've gotten such a good night's rest in a while. "Dipper?" I mumble sleepily. "What time is it?" I glance over towards my clock, and my heart skips a beat and then pounds in my chest as I realize it's not there, and then I remember. It's like being shot with a bullet and then having the stitches ripped out, making it bleed all over again.

I'm sitting in a huge four-poster bed, yellow curtains surrounding me, keeping me from seeing the rest of my prison. Just then, something nudges my back, and I squeal, turning around quickly. A yellow pillow with an eye stitched onto it stares at me, its pupils glowing yellow. I have no idea what that means, but I don't think it's good. I fling it off the bed, climbing out quickly. What's going on? I wonder.

The room is furnished and luxurious, less like a prison and more like a suite. A knock sounds at the door and I jump, quickly running into the bathroom. I find a hairbrush and pick it up, weighing it in my hands. I nod in satisfaction. This will do nicely. The door opens, and I stand there, hairbrush brandished in front of me like a sword. The demon ignores me, walking over and placing the pillow back on the bed. "Oh, you're awake," she says casually as I swing my make-shift weapon at her.

She lifts up a finger, not even bothering to look at me, and the hairbrush sails out of my hands, whacking me on the head before returning to the bathroom. She glares at me, rolling her eye. "Humans are so dramatic." I stare at her. She wears a magenta gown made out of pink flames. She has no hair as far as I can tell, only two pink horns.

"Are you... going to eat me?"

She smiles sweetly at me. "Oh darling, if I was going to eat you, you would already be dead." I back away from her and her sweet smile transforms into a scowl. "I didn't mean it. I'm not going to hurt you." With a small pop, she turns into a girl about my age. Her hair is the same color as her dress, short but styled up into swirled tips on either side, reminding me of horns. Her eyes are a bright lollipop pink, and she's wearing a maid's outfit. I would've thought she was cute until she opened her lips, revealing fangs, and hissed at me like a wild animal. I jumped back. "Stop staring!" She snarled. "Of course I have to wear... this." She regarded her maid's outfit with such a look of contempt I half expected the outfit to disintegrate.

I swallowed a couple of times and then asked, "Where's Dipper?"

The demon shrugged. "Probably dead. Boss wasn't too happy when his plan got ruined."

I don't hear the rest. Everything drowned out by a sudden pounding in my skull, the word dead echoing around again and again. Dead, dead, dead. My whole body almost feels as if it's buzzing. Black swarms my vision, and I feel something resembling pain slice through my head. And then there's nothing at all.

"God, humans are so fragile," I hear a voice say irritably. "I think I broke this one."

"You better not have," a voice hisses. "Boss will have your skin."

"Good," the person says scathingly. "Then I won't have to wear this stupid meatsack anymore. Why would he even want it, anyway?"

"She's up!" Someone announces loudly.

"Great," what I can only assume is sarcasm with a demon attached says. "Now I have to keep her from dying."

Someone pokes me, and I lurch upward. "Cut that out!"

Pink eyes stare at me. "You do realize your talking to a demon, right? Can't you at least tremble a little?" She pokes me again, and I flail my hands, surprised at her closeness.

She falls backward, spitting out blood. I must've hit her in the mouth. "You got quite the nerve for a human," she says menacingly, her hair beginning to glow, and I can feel the heat radiating from it. It bursts into flames, and I shout in surprise, hiding behind a couch. "I'm going to make you regret doing that!" She roars, hurling a fireball at the couch.

Then a loud bang as the door slams open, then a hiss and a scream of rage, and then the room went deathly quiet. I peek out of my hiding place, and the demon girl is gone. Instead, there's a guy, his teal hair shining in the yellow candles in my prison. "I'm sorry," he says politely, bowing with any flourish. He looks up at me with sickly green eyes the color of Nickelodeon slime. I gasp, stumbling backward. "Pryonica has been disposed of. There's no reason to be frightened. You're safe, as Boss instructed." He smiles, a sick, twisted, smile, alien and cold. "For now."
