Chapter 5 - Dear Diary

Dear diary

I don't know why I'm writing about this but I need to get my feelings out. I have been hanging out with Regulus, as in my best friends brother. I snuck out to see him at the astronomy tower last night and we hung out and talked for AGES. I just hope he didn't see my face covered in blush all the time and they way I looked at him. Gosh what is it about him. He is so handsome and kind and nothing like I would have thought. I want to know more about this feeling. I feel like I may like him. As in like like him. You can't blame me though he is so bloody cute, but hot at the same time, kind, funny and did I say cute?  I have never felt this way before, not even about Lily and certainly not about a boy, who is in fact related to my best friend. I need to talk about this to somebody but it can't be Sirius for obvious reasons and I highly doubt Peter would understand, I don't really expect him to yet anyway. But this means my only option is moony. I just hope he doesn't tell Sirius. I would be 6 foot under if Sirius knew.

Who would have thought. Who would have thought that the person to make James fall in love would be none other than Regulus Black. James NEEDED to talk to Remus. He desperately wanted to. He had to find a moment when Sirius and Remus were apart from each other so he could talk to Remus and Remus only. This would be easy because he had Remus in herbolodgy and Sirius didn't, neither did Peter as they would be doing DADA together at the same time. 'Perfect' he thought. It was an amazing idea. But he couldn't really say everything he felt right in the classroom, in front of Snape.

He decided he would just ask him and Remus to talk with each other later in private because he wanted to talk about something. Yes, that was the perfect plan.

After breakfast the boys went to their first class of the day, in which they all had together, potions. After that, James would be able to talk with his friend about another certain slytherin boy. Potions was normal, nothing new. It's how it always is. Pranking the teacher and, completely by accident, exploding and spilling a potion, so same as always.

James' mind wondered about what his friend would say about his feelings, a feeling he didn't  completely understand himself. He thought about Regulus. 'God he's just so cute I want to see him again'  he thought. 

"Umm James..." he heard this voice and it snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked at his friends, Peter trying to clean, Remus looking at him with an 'are you ok' expression, Sirius was talking to him with a concerned look on his face. "Sh¡t did I say that out loud" he asked, internally panicking. Sirius, at this just laughed. "No we were just concerned because your staring at the back of the wall and you weren't listening to me about ways to prank snivellous" he replied. James apologised and they talked about prank ideas for the rest of potions. He now had herbolodgy. 

He now had his class where he would tell Remus to talk to him later. He didn't plan far ahead because his words got jumbled up and he stuttered. He was scared to find out his friends reaction to his crush. He was scared to find out that reaction.

"H-hey r-r Remus umm can I talk with you after class, alone. Please it's really important and I uh need your help." 

"James of course I will help you but why are you so nervous and don't want anybody else to know?"

"I- I umm just can't let anybody else know please moony can we talk later. maybe by the black lake after all classes end."

"Ok sure it mus be important if your acting like this."

James thanked him and they got on with their work - nothing interesting happened this time, not even a prank, it was just normal - (time skip to after class) The boys were heading to lunch when James remembered he forgot something in his dorm so he went back up, but he bumped into a certain someone on the way.

"I'm sorry Reggie are you ok?" James told. He was scared he hurt him. He couldn't have his crush hate him could he? "No it's fine James I'm ok" Regulus replied slightly laughing. James apologised again and gave him a quick hug that ended quite quickly. "I need to go but do you want to meet tomorrow? Same time same spot?" James said. Regulus nodded and they both went their seperate ways. In fact, when James got to his dorm, he forgot what he was going to get. He grabbed a random book to avoid suspicion, even though there was actually nothing going on. He headed down for lunch and has he arrived in the great hall he stole a glance at the slytherin table, looking for a certain grey eyed boy. He didn't get to find him because he got shouted at by Sirius who told him to sit down and made him aware of their position. He sat down next to his friends and they talked for a while. About random things such as pranking to how much they didn't like dumbledore.
