I have no idea when.
I have no idea why.
I have absolutely no idea how I landed on the rooftop of an abandoned building in New York with Christian.
I remember when I told him that I would rather go stargazing. He just smirked.
Then I remember how he asked me what I would do if I got the chance to go stargazing. I remember saying that I would definitely go.
And then I and him somehow landed on the rooftop of this abandoned building.
"This used to be a hotel. Whenever any of my family members would come to visit us, they would stay here." He started.
I had the urge to ask why they wouldn't stay in his house but I ignored it. We had just met. It wouldn't be right for me to pry in his personal life.
"The owner knew me very well. One day, some CEO of some big shot company came in and told the owner to shut down the hotel. He said that this hotel was draining all of his hotel's customers. When the owner didn't agree, he spread rumors about the hotel and the hotel closed down as there were no customers. The owner just gave me the key and told me to do whatever I want with it." He sadly chuckled at the end.
"That was harsh and very selfish of that CEO." I stated.
"It was. But don't worry. I got some revenge too." He smirked as he looked at me.
We were sitting on a blanket in the center of the rooftop. There were fairy lights around us but we had switched them off so that we could get a more prominent view of the stars, which were shining above us.
"What did you do?" I playfully narrowed my eyes at him.
"Oh nothing. Just something involving a lot of cockroaches and rats." He shrugged and turned back to the sky.
"I don't even want to ask any further." I scrunched up my nose in disgust, imagining the worst possible scenarios.
"Good decision." He chuckled.
I looked back towards the sky.
"If you hated prom so much, why did you even go there in the first place?" He asked me.
"My dad wanted me too. He met my mom during prom and says that it was his best night. He wanted me to experience that I guess." I shrugged, not looking at him, still staring at the sparkling stars. "What about you?"
"My mom forced me to go. She said that if I wouldn't, she would not talk to me. I couldn't afford that. I love her too much for her to not talk to me." He chuckled. At the mention of his mom, a wave of sadness and little jealousy immediately hit me.
"My mom is dead." I suddenly said and regretted it the next second.
"I am sorr-" He was about to apologise but I cut him off.
