Hiding Behind the Music [Lilly's Soundtrack]
"Everybody sing like it the last song you'll ever sing." - Paramore - Born For This
Kate Branson is your usual pop rock singer, except she is in her early thirties and even more popular than Barack Obama. She's an American and also highly talented. She has kept to her single status since stardom and she only hits the tabloids over little things such as a "fab costume" or some good deed or a new album. Translation: no Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. She was like such artists as Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and sort of like Taylor Swift, but more beloved.
I must admit my body erupted with goose bumps even though I still had my jacket on when she opened her mouth and sang. She wasn't my genre, but you could get up and jump around to the beat and bellow back lyrics with ease once you caught on. She made the show epic. I was into the rhythm and swing by the second song and Sonny encouraged me on with reassuring smiles.
As soon as it had begun, it was over. Girls ran around squealing and singing as they made their way out.
"Did you get a look at the guitarist?"
I shake my head, "I heard all the girls around us speaking of him though." I say shrugging, not the slightest bit fazed.
She nods, smiling cheekily, "As he deserves." I roll my eyes, "You didn't see him, Lil! He is gorgeous!" She cries.
"Probably cocky, too, from all the girls drooling."
She sighs, "He did wink once or twice." She admits as if it was a struggle as we make our way in a different direction than all of the crazy fans.
"Admit it though, you enjoyed it."
I smile, pressing my finger to my lips. "Shhh, not a word." I tease, making her laugh. I remove my finger, more serious now, "Yeah, I did. She's got talent compared to some of the other sad wannabes." Sonny just nods as her warm arms brush mine, I had taken my jacket off and it was now slung over my arm. Sonny's smart, shorts and a singlet, but what I have on was the usual and it was spring.
Sonny broke out singing softly to a chorus of Kate's tune and I echo it back louder as we laugh and turn the corner to the entrance, showing our cards to the security guard. He does not suit the security guard stereotype; he isn't surly or big in fact he was talkative, probably too talkative.
Sonny quiet with nerves as I grab her hand as she froze, "Sonny" I hiss softly in her ear. "Son, we aren't even there yet." I say smiling nervously at the man as he watches us warily and curiously. "C'mon move!" I say, giving her a tug as she stumbles along.
"Lil," she whispers numbly. "I feel sick."
I grit my teeth, "So do I, but at your stupidity, I'm gonna call you Mrs. Bieber if you keep this up." I inform her through my teeth as I continue to tug, "You're acting ridiculous." I give her a final tug.
She snaps awake as I pull her around the corner, "Hey! I am no Mrs. Bieber!" She protests defensively, her hands on her hips.
I heave a sigh and tilt my head towards our audience. She spun slowly and smiles sheepishly, her cheeks tinting. I look at the ceiling shaking my head in silent laughter. Sonny stood stunned as she looks at her audience; Kate and her band members.
I heave another soft sigh and tug her along, filling in the gap as Kate stood up and a man looking similar in age or older stood tall in his suit. I restrain my eyes from rolling, managers. Giving up, I let Sonny's arms fall by her side.
