Daphne's POV:
"Is she okay?" I skid to a stop in the hospital room.
"She's fine and you're here!" Jesy says in a cheerful tone of voice, a goofy smile gracing her features.
I ignore the blonde sitting by the bed and look at Janice, who is standing with my parents.
Pointing at Jesy, I ask, "Did they give her the good stuff?"
"She's loopy." Janice replies.
I nod. "So what happened?"
"She was found about three blocks from the office, badly beaten and barely conscious."
"She was walking?"
"It appears so."
"Why was she walking when she drove her car to work this morning?" I question, suspiciously.
"That's unclear at this point." My Dad says.
"My head hurts!" Jesy whines.
"What can I do for you, baby?" The blonde asks, standing up.
Jesy looks at her and whines again. "I don't want you, Heather." Jesy turns her head towards me and reaches her right hand out, making a grabbing motion.
Jesy gets whiny when she's in pain or doesn't feel good. I look at the girls and they shrug.
"Daphne!"
"I'm right here, Jes." I stand by the bed, slip my right hand under her neck, and start massaging the base of her skull, gently.
Jesy hums contently, wraps a hand around my arm to keep it in place, and lays her head against my forearm.
Heather looks pissed, the girls look confused, and Janice looks almost as happy as Jesy does right now.
"Where is he, Daphne?" Jesy mumbles, sleepily.
"Where's who, love?" I ask softly.
"Our little boy."
My eyes widen in shock and I slowly turn my head in the direction of Janice, the girls, and my parents, each sporting a shocked expression. I'm saved from having to respond when the doctor walks in.
"You've calmed the patient." Dr. Kelly Gilbert says, standing at the foot of the bed. "She was giving the nurses a hard time when she woke up and wouldn't let any of them touch her."
I look at Jesy, her eyes open slowly and I raise an eyebrow. "Why wouldn't you giving the nurses a hard time and not letting the touch you?"
She shakes her head, the goofy smile still there.
"Jessica."
"I didn't want them to touch me. They're not you."
"Will you let them do what they need to do now that I'm here?"
She nods slowly.
I look at Dr. Gilbert. She walks out of them room and comes back with a nurse.
"Can you give me a run down of her injuries, Kelly?"
"Of course. She has a concussion, her left shoulder is dislocated, her right ankle is broken, and she has deep gashes on her upper right thigh and upper abdomen. The right side of her jaw is bruised and she's got some bruises on her arms and legs as well."
"No internal bleeding?"
Kelly shakes her head.
"That's good."
