Chapter 7

Jesy's POV:

I'm so sick of not being able to put weight on my foot! I look down at Zeus, he looks up at me. He's been quiet since Daphne went missing.

"I want her back too, buddy. I'm gonna get her back."

The elevator doors open and I hobble out, Zeus following behind me. This elevator is probably the only reason Mom, Melissa, and Gio agreed to let me stay in my house after Daphne was kidnapped. Stairs are not my friend right now.

I quietly move towards my front door, grabbing Daphne's car keys off the entry table. They really shouldn't have brought her car back here.

"Where do you think you're going?" Mom's voice sounds from behind me.

Zeus whimpers and I look down at him. "Busted."

I slowly turn around to find Mom, Melissa, and Gio. Mom sighs when I remain silent.

"Jessica."

"I'm going to get her back. It's been a week! I need her back." I whine, tears in my eyes.

"How exactly were you planning to get her back? You don't know where she is and they've only been in contact with me." Gio questions.

"If they really want me, I can guarantee they have eyes on me. All I had to do was leave the house, alone, and they would've found me."

"And there's no guarantee that once they got you, they'd let Daphne go." Melissa states.

I hang my head in shame, knowing she's right.

"Now, get your but out the door so we can go."

My head snaps up at Mom's words.

"Go? Where are we going?"

"The hospital. Adam called, somebody dumped Daphne outside the hospital." Mom replies.

"What are we standing here for then? Let's go!" I open the front door.

"I'll drive Daphne's car and Jesy can ride with me." Melissa says.

"Cool, let's go. Wait. Doesn't she need clothes?"

"She keeps shoes and a duffle bag in her trunk for situations like this." Melissa replies, taking the keys from me and helping me out the door. "You know she's not gonna be happy to find out you've been walking around so much and not resting, right?"

"I know, but I'll deal with it." I say as I sit down in the seat.

Mom locks the door behind her and Gio and they head to his car.

"I'll call the girls on the way there." Mom calls out to me.

I give her a thumbs up and close the car door then put on my seatbelt. Melissa gets in the car, puts on her seatbelt, starts the car, and pulls out of the driveway.

"Are you gonna tell Daphne?"

"Tell her what?" I question, looking at Melissa, her eyes never leaving the road.

"What you just tried to do. You know she'll find out, whether you tell her or not, but it's better if you tell her."

"Do you think she'll be mad?"

"She won't be happy about it, but she can't stay mad at you. So even if she is mad when you tell her, it won't last long. She's more likely to be mad at us for not keeping a better eye on you."

"I'm an adult, nobody has to keep an eye on me." I cross my arms over my chest.

Melissa chuckles. "I know that, Jesy. Daphne does too, but you know how she feels about you. At least I'm assuming you do since the two of you are finally dating."
