21. The Talk

   Mrs Dhawan stood outside the room of Navya contemplating about the gift she had for her. She finally knocked gathering enough courage.

   Navya smiled at the woman who entered after knocking. 

Navya: Thank you so much for the baby shower aunty.! I am so happy now...

Mrs Dhawan: Navya, no need to be thank you. Today I want to share something which I never shared with anyone.

     Navya made space for Mrs Dhawan on her bed. 

Mrs Dhawan: You will have a lot of dreams while marrying. Even I had and I was very silly. The first year of marriage was a golden year. It was like a fairy tale but every fairy tale has an end. I got my end when I got to know that Kabir was coming.

    Navya was confused. She didn't understand how a baby made the end of the fairy tale. 

Mrs Dhawan: Hearing the pregnancy news Kabir's father was confused and at the same time he got a lifetime offer. He got the offer to work in National Geography. He chose his dreams and I think from then our relationship was a sinking ship.

     'Like father, like son' Navya thought.

Mrs Dhawan: When he left no one, I mean not even my parents supported me at that time. I had to work and some support I got from my brother made me survive. Kabir's father didn't even visit when I gave birth to Kabir.

Navya: How can he be so heartless?

Mrs Dhawan: Yes, even I thought the same. So when he came after 10 years to get back us in life, I asked for a divorce. We had an ugly fight where he declared that Kabir was a mistake which Kabir heard. That was the limit he crossed so I kicked him out of the house. Even though it's been years but all the pain and struggle I can't just let it go.

Navya: Aunty it's ok if you feel pain

Mrs Dhawan: No, I want to tell you because you are going through the same phase I went through. Even though I had many you only have a few of them who are in their own problems. 

   Mrs Dhawan handed a file to Navya.

Mrs Dhawan: Please don't say no to this. This the FD kept by my so-called husband and me for the future. Now I don't even want this as everything is well settled. I know you may say no to this but this is not for you, but for your baby. 

    Navya wanted to say no but the words struck her throat and she took the file without a fight. She caressed her belly to feel the kick of her baby reminding her that she is not alone.

Navya: Do you ever feel you should have forgiven your husband?

Mrs Dhanwan: As a wife no, but as a mother yes. I wanted to forgive him but I think something was really stopping and see where did it bring Kabir now. But I am still trying to forgive him as even I am getting old and if he is regretting why not?

   Navya didn't know what to do? 'What if Kabir suddenly come into their life?'

   CBI officer, Arjun. Shukla was studying the detailed report of the case which was twisted. It was the kidnapping case of Abhi and Jaggu. 

    The only link to the tattoo and something he was missing. He called his trusted men.

Shukla: I want the details about Jaguti. Bhat and Abhimanyu. Thakkar. I want every damn thing from their birth date to their current profession.

    He got an ok from another side.

    He once again looked at the case and also the stack of papers of other kidnappings who were unfortunately killed and their organs were missing from their body. 

    The saddest thing was all the dead bodies were found after their 2 years of disappearance.

    Nandini finished her classes and her play preparation. As if the bed was calling her she just fell on bed throwing her bag somewhere.

    Nandini heard some clearing of the throat which she ignored telling herself of dreaming it. 

Manik: Nandini I want to talk!

   Nandini was up like a rocket when she heard the only voice which she was avoiding to hear. 

Nandini: What the hell are you doing here?!

    Nandini wanted to thank him for the care he took when she was not well but something tied her tongue from uttering it.

Manik: I wanted to check on you.

    All the anger she had was now melting like ice kept on fire.

Nandini: I am ok. Thank you for taking care of me.

Manik: Nandini can we get back if I convince fab 5?

Nandini: Ok Manik assume this time they agree and let us continue our relationship but if there is again a tiff between them what is the guarantee that they won't blame me? Moreover, I don't need anyone's permission to continue my relationship unlike you who can't be a man to stand for the right!

Manik: Nandini!

     Manik screamed listening to Nandini. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves.

Manik: Ok, you can think whatever you want and I am done being patient with you! Now you will see what I can do and to what extent I can go to get you. Wait and watch.

Nandini: You should not be here!

     Nandini said pushing the reason for her happiness and the reason for her tears to go away from her.

Manik: I know but I will get you Jaan. I need your help to make my friends understand that You are the reason for my happiness. I will always be yours and make my friends grow up as you once said, it is a friend's duty to make their friends grow. Love you Hamesha.

     Manik said giving me a peck on my lips. As soon as Manik was out Nandini took a shaky breath to control herself from crying. 

     'I will move one no matter what!' Nandini thought determined.
