Chapter 12: Dreams and Reality

Newt's P.O.V.:

  It's been a few minutes since Minho and Thomas found themselves trapped in the maze and having Alby with them means I have to take care of everything here until they are back or at least one of them is. 

'I'm sure they'll make it'

 Was what I was thinking and saying to people but in all honesty I didn't completely believe that either. Deep inside I knew, the Grievers were way too strong for them and with Alby being injured I bet, wouldn't help them much and I knew it was over for him.  I looked over at Y/N . She wasn't crying which ,in all honesty, surprised me. She didn't seem scared either, she was rather calm and...happy and relived at the same time? Why? I didn't know.

'Does she hate these three so much?'

  I asked myself and I immediatly answered it with a no. It's true that she doesn't agree with Alby at anything but she would never wish for his death.

'She is sure for their return...?'

 I thought a bit hestitant because I couldn't belive anyone would truly belive that. 

'Then again she was the one who made it out alive...she did make it'

 That made me a bit more hopeful. I glanced at the other Gladers. They just stood still looking at the walls, their eyes teary, some other angry and others where mourning silently. I knew I had do to something.

"Ok Gladers it's time to sleep, we all need energy to welcome our friends and leader tomorrow morning." I announced trying to give them some hope and trying to make them forget their sorrow a little bit. They followed my orders and started moving away from the walls back to their hammocks. "The keepers stay with me!" I remembered. We still had to figure out what we would do in case... I don't like being pessimistic but we have to be ready for whatever is to come. 

  After some complaints from the Gladers who hadn't started walking  they left, all but one. Y/N. She just stood there looking at the walls troubled.

"Hey!" Gally yelled at her. "You heard the orders Glader go to sleep!" He told her then looked at me as if he was trying to get a look of comfirmation that he did well.I gave him a disaproving one. Y/N fianally took her gaze of the walls and faced me.

"Let me sleep here tonight." She said. All the keepers looked at her confused.

"Why?"I asked.

"Someone has to stay here so when they return they can take care of them especially Alby." She explained.

"The doors open at a time when most of us are awake, if they are alive and come back we will see them and take care of them" Gally said underlying the we.

"Yeah but maybe they will come sooner" She said.

"Oh really? How?" Gally laughed at her. I didn't like him making fun of her at all, but he had a point.

"They might...climb" She said embarassed.

"You say that they will climb the wall? Is that it?" He asked and most of the keepers laughed. She just looked down and then at me.

"Please Newt, I have to stay here" She pleaded."Please Newt please" She begged. I knew I shouldn't let her but I couldn't say no to her.

"Oh stop it Y/N and go to sleep already we have stuff to discuss" Gally complained-ordered.

"Gally!" I started "You are in no position to order anyone around apart from the builders." I said displeasing many people. "Y/N you can stay here tonight." Her face lit up immediately.
