When I woke up, my head was on Techno's shoulder. "Morning.", he hummed. A tad embarrassed, I whispered a good morning and checked on Ranboo who was still comfortable in my lap. "We'll be arriving at an inn by the end of the day. We'll rest there and then continue to Valtameri.", sighed Techno, before putting his mask back on. Ranboo stirred in my lap before he sat up; he greeted us. Ranboo happily ate the bread with butter that I made for him as he looked outside, most of the snow was disappearing. He excitedly pointed that out, I laughed softly before petting his head.
The carriage stopped around mid-day to let us out for a stretch before we continued to the inn. I walked out before helping Ranboo out. "It's so beautiful!", exclaimed Ranboo, running around and looking at the flowers. The scenery before us was of the mountains and lush forests that reminded me of home. "Yes, it's quite splendid... One day, I'll be taking you to my home...", I whispered, kissing his temple. Ranboo looked at me with his big curious eyes. "You mean the Forest of Alieus??", he whispered. I nodded before he grinned and hugged me, the sun started setting as I scooped Ranboo into my arms. The boy beckoned Technoblade to come closer as he finished talking to one of his knights. "What do you need, Ranboo?", he asked, ruffling his hair. The child reached over and placed a beautiful golden flower into the King's hair.
The Blood God rarely took a liking to anyone yet Ranboo and the rest of the children were people that Techno didn't mind too much. "Thank you...", he whispered. Ranboo grinned and hugged him before we entered the carriage. My eyes looked out to the forests that we were passing, the giggles from Ranboo brought me back. He and the Blood God had created a flower crown and placed it on my head. "Thank you.", I chuckled. One of the knights informed us that the inn was close by, we got down and got on Technos horse. "Isn't this too much weight for Carl? I can fly.", I whispered. Ranboo clung to me as I said this; Techno, on the other hand, reassured us that Carl would be okay with our weight. Ranboo played with Techno's crown on our way to the inn, I had changed our appearances so people wouldn't recognize us.
Once we arrived, the innkeeper apologized for only having only a room available. "You and Ranboo take the bed. I'll stay on the lookout.", I smiled. Techno argued for a minute before I reminded him that he could sleep tonight and Id sleep in the carriage once we got to the meeting point. "You need to be well-rested for your meeting with Sam.", I reminded. The Blood God sighed before giving in, we ate in our room before the sky darkened. "Alright, go get ready for bed.", I smiled at Ranboo before collecting the dishes for the innkeeper. Ranboo said goodnight after he changed and took Technos's hand; I hid my smile as I found it too cute. I waved as they headed back inside the room after a short talk on the balcony.
The soft wind that blew in my face smelled of pines and the ocean, making me smile as I sat on the balcony. The stars shined brightly but they weren't the same as the stars that shone back in Veri. I stretched before making my wings appear, it was tiring to keep the disguise but now that we had a room, it felt okay to relax a little. My wings wrapped around me as I got a shiver, a soft lullaby rang in my mind, and soon my voice sang it to the wind. Memories of my parents flashed as I sang that song, making me feel a bit nostalgic.
The glass door opened, distracting me. The small figure of Ranboo stood there with a blanket wrapped around him, he stood there looking at me for a minute. "Yes, darling?", I asked, folding my wings against my back. He looked a bit conflicted, he came closer and hugged me. "The King is having a nightmare...", he whispered. A sigh escaped my lips before I sat the boy in the chair I was in. "Okay, sit here.", I whispered. The nightmares were rare for the King but when he did have them, he would end up harming himself or anyone near him. As I approached the King, I could hear him mumbling and could see him turning in his sleep.
I'd be scared too... Poor Ranboo...
My hands slowly unfastened the mask around his face, I never understood why he had to hide his face from us all the time. "Idiot...", I mumbled. Placing the mask to the side, I placed my hands on the side of his face. He calmed down before his eyes slowly opened. "(Y/n)?", he mumbled. I gave him a small smile before nodding, he questioned what was wrong. "You were having a nightmare, Sire...", I whispered. My hands released him as he sat up, fixing his long locks to the side. "Shall I fetch you some water?", I asked. Techno only shook his head before he asked about Ranboo. After explaining that he was waiting outside, he asked me to get Ranboo inside. The boy looked at me with his big eyes, waiting to know what had happened. "He's okay now, love.", I smiled. Ranboo came running over, hugging my waist; I picked him up and walked back into the room.
Ranboo was now fast asleep, hugging Techno while the King sat there. "If you wish to sleep, I can head outside.", I smiled. Techno looked at me for a moment, before I could question it he spoke. "Actually... Can you stay? I don't want to harm Ranboo...", he whispered. Using my magic, I dimmed the light orbs around the room. "Of course, Techno.", I whispered. The man nodded and laid on the bed, being careful with the child that hugged his side. "You were singing a lullaby... Or was that my imagination?", he asked. A soft hum was all I answered with before I took his hand, it was large and had a few calluses. "Continue...", he whispered. The sad song that filled my mind on my loneliest nights left my lips and filled the room.
Technoblades hand squeezed mine as I kept singing the rest of the song. Once I was done, a smile spread on my lips as both Techno and Ranboo slept soundly. My hand was intertwined with Technos, his hold on my hand was tight but not hurtful in any way. It was just a strong grip so my hand wouldn't leave his, which I didn't mind as my head laid next to our hands. My mind was at peace hearing his soft snoring instead of his fearful mumbling. The next challenge was only a few hours away, I only hoped that Techno and Sam could come to an agreement that would benefit our nations.
