It had been terrifying. The thought that she might have killed him. It was unintentional of course, but it had happened nonetheless. They were simply messing around. No one was ever supposed to get hurt, but it had happened nonetheless.

June and her brother Jacob had been cliff diving together all day, and as the sun was setting the two decided to sword fight on the cliffs with some sticks they had found. It was all going well until June poked her brother in the chest, and sent him tumbling backwards off of the cliff. Jacob had let out a terrified shriek as he lost his balance and went flying off of the cliff. June could only watch in horror as her brother fell through the air, before hitting the water, and sinking into the inky water.

Now it was beginning to get dark, so June had a choice. She could risk her life and try and find her brother who was most likely dead, or she could return home before it grew too dark, tell her parents what had happened, and then they could look for him tomorrow.

The second option was very tempting, but she knew what her brother would have done if he was in June's shoes, and it was due to this that June found herself on the beach at 1:00 in the morning, looking for her brother.

June had been searching for multiple hours, but to no avail. She was just about to give up, when she heard a distinct splash. It sounded different than the waves that were crashing gently on the shores. As June tried to pinpoint the splash, she saw a small figure that was bobbing in the water, illuminated in the moonlight. Throwing caution to the wind, June ran into the water and swam out to her brother, and she manage, with difficulty, to pull him back to shore. It was only when June got back to the shore that she realized her brother was looking up at her, trying not to laugh. June was furious, apparently he had been fine the entire time, he had simply tried to scare her, as payback for her pushing him off the cliff. It had been a ruse the whole time. A ruse to simply scare her.
