I woke up in my bed in a daze. Every thought that passed through my mind was of him. Of how his lips touched mine, how they tasted so good on my lips, of his touch on my waist and on the back of my neck...

I can't deny that I want him. Not anymore. Not to myself. Nevertheless, he can't derive me from my plan as Everlyn's leader. I must fulfill my main duty. No matter what. Even if I must sacrifice him.

I sit up in my bed and look outside, towards the fountain.

The fountain looked better during the day. The ambiance of it was better too. Instead of the dark silent mood, it had a nice summer feel along with the noises of the birds in the trees near by...

A soft knock at my door caused me to look away.

After a few moments, a maid walks in.

"Sorry for bothering you, princess," she starts, bowing, "but King Alistair has asked for your presence." She finishes, with a light smile and eye contact clearly forced.

I wonder if the maid was just shy, or if she really detested me. Putting myself in her shoes, I had to admit I wouldn't like myself. To them, to everyone outside of the Everlyn circle, I was a maid of King Dameo's and possible lover, whom, after last nights event, wound up being announced that I would be marrying his son, Eithan. Screams out whore to me. If I was her, of course.

I know that I'm only here, doing all this, for the goal to overthrow Dameo.

The maid awkwardly waits as I just stay in bed, deep in thought.

As I realize this, I tell her to leave, that I'm fine on my own to get ready.

She looks at me for a moment, with a certain emotion that could be sadness, then breaks the eye contact and nods once. "He will be waiting for you outside."

A royal waiting outside?

I have never heard of that before in my life.

"Wait." I say, realizing that I would rather not be alone right now, due to all my wandering thoughts.

She looks at me right away with a smile. "Yes?"

"What would be something appropriate to wear?" I quickly come up with. It's not like I knew the answer to what I have just asked, but I wasn't that big on looks.

Standing in front of me was a women with a long, dark forest green, corset type dress. On her neck was a heavy green jewel on a silver chain, with long green earrings to match. Underneath the dress, were her feet with black high heeled boots. Her face was covered lightly with makeup, and her expression had now turned into disgust. If it wasn't for the expression change, I wouldn't have known for sure if the woman in the mirror could truly be me.

My eyes stay in the corner of the mirror, where King Dameo stood, asking the maid to leave.

She looked at me quickly, smiled, then broke eye contact and left the room with her head down.

Dameo took a few seconds to eye me from top to bottom. I could tell he likes what he sees. Thinking his little mouth twitching into a smile and him looking me over went without detection from me, he comes up to me and places his arms around me.

"Hello, Nina." He whispers, making me wince inside.

"Have you not heard of the announcement your son made last night?" I ask, hoping that it would make him remove his hands off of me.

"Unfortunately." He starts, his arms around me only getting tighter. "But he was never allowed to make such a stupid statement. We both know that you are mine, and not anyone else's." he continues, kissing my neck as his hands move up and onto my breasts.
