I didn't get revenge. He lives on the other side of the country. I don't even have my driver's license, for god's sake. And turns out there are not many things I could do to get revenge. Legal things, at least. So, here I am in my room, ranting to my stuffed animals.
My phone dings so I pause my tirade to check.
New number? Hm.
Is today a good day to come over for the project? - unknown number
who dis? - me
Oh right. It's me, Arden. You gave me your number during class today. - unknown number
ohh yeah today is great - me
what time are you coming over? -me
I quickly change her contact name to "Arden".
Is around 6:00 pm okay? - Arden
perfect! - me
I let out a high-pitched squeal before sighing. It's only been like a week. I need to chill.
I lay back down on my bed but spring back up in realization.
"GUUUYS WE NEED TO CLEAN THE HOUSE NOW!"
I speed down the stairs and begin picking up stray items at superhuman speed.
"Why are you cleaning so aggressively? Are you okay?" My mom asks as she walks in dressed in her taco shirt. My eyes widen in panic.
"Mom, please change your shirt. Also, can you help me clean? Arden is coming over."
My mom gasps and looks down at her shirt.
"I love this shirt though! I'm sure Arden won't mind," she says waving me off.
"MOM STO-" I start but I pause as I spot something under the couch. Bingo.
I go and grab a tissue from the tissue box on the end table and peel it off the floor.
"Go change your shirt or I'm going to put this moldy piece of cheese on you," I say as I begin walking towards her.
"Mal...Mal... MAL! NO GET THAT AWAY FROM ME! OKAY FI- FINE! I'LL CHANGE!" I chase her around the living room chuckling as she screams until she finally gives up and dashes upstairs to her room. I hurry to throw away the cheese before letting out a maniacal laugh.
Miles and Matthew rush down the stairs. Probably being nosy and wondering what all the commotion is about.
"What? What happened," they ask, grinning and looking around.
"Nothing. I was just preventing humiliation. Speaking of which...a classmate is coming over so do not do weird things to embarrass me. Got it?"
