This entire week was frustrating, to say the least. Tooru was stubborn during his entire healing process. He always wanted to set or practice just a regular overhand serve. You, as his designated care-taker during school, said no. He would protest until Iwaizumi comes over and points out that if Tooru didn't overwork himself, he wouldn't have to deal with his current situation. Harsh words to say to an injured man, but if it shuts Tooru up for a few minutes, then it's fine. But even if he couldn't do physical activities, it doesn't mean that he wouldn't stay back anyway and watch. He took it upon himself to watch the team's plays during practice matches between themselves and Tooru was eerily quiet whenever he was assessing someone. He scared a few other first-years during a mini practice match between the upperclassmen and the underclassmen with his intense gaze. It was unnerving to see him this quiet, but it was better than him attempting to run away and play.

Since Tooru was benched for most of the week, he was often with the coaches if he wasn't burning holes into his fellow teammates, leaving you alone. You only did small amounts of homework and some doodles in your sketchbook, but eventually stopped when a volleyball almost slammed your head against the wall you were leaning against. It was off to the side, away from the dangers of the sport, but it seemed to find you anyway. Now with nothing to do but fear for your life, you didn't do much. You would help Tooru but he was mostly on the bench and didn't really need help unless he needed it.

"(Y/N)-chan!" Iwaizumi called out. Your ears perked up as you turned your head to turn towards him. "Can I have my water bottle?" Your eyes shifted to the water bottle near you before you grabbed it and handed it over to him. He nodded as he grabbed the water bottle, muttering a small thank you. "So how's Shittykawa been holding up?"

You almost laughed at your brother's nickname before speaking. "He's been um... quite a pain."

"Tell me something I don't know." He sighed before turning back towards you, his stern face giving into a worried one. "But is he really okay?"

You smiled. Sometimes it seemed that people forget that Tooru and Iwaizumi were best friends. It's not a secret between your families that they were attached to the hip since they were kids. They practically did everything together, including volleyball, to this day. Their friendship was one built on faith and trust. It would be beautiful if your brother wasn't an annoying piece of shit who wanted to annoy Iwaizumi every second of the day.

"Yeah, he's holding up fine, but he's still being a pain in the ass," you stated. The pair of you turned towards your brother who was talking with the coaches, possibly about a new play or something new he noticed about the team. "Nii-chan is incredibly hardworking though. I would probably stay at home and draw all day instead of going to school if I injured my ankle."

"Well, it seems that it's not as bad. He's not limping as much."

"True," you mused. "I still think that it's stupid of him to push himself when the Interhigh-Preliminary's are so close."

"Stupid as shit, if you ask me. We need our captain and setter for this upcoming practice match."

Ah, Tooru did mention that a few times. He never mentioned the school's name but a fire seemed to light up in his eyes whenever he talked about it.

"What team are you playing against?"

"Karasuno."

Your eyes lit up. Last you heard, Kageyama was going there because he heard a former coach was coming out of retirement to train under him. He informed you that he had tried to get into Shiratorizawa instead but chose Karasuno when he failed the exams. You promptly laughed at him, well aware of how bad his grades are and how hard Shiratorizawa's entrance exams are. You haven't heard from him since your last get-together before school started.
