ALEX MOVED WITH purpose as she walked in those early hours of the morning. The sun hadn't risen yet, and the city that never sleeps was very much asleep.
Not a single thought of remorse was left in her mind, and she was thriving off of it. The energy that now circulated through her was dark, and enthralling. The wind blew as she walked, almost as if it were pushing her, telling her that this was the right direction.
Alexandra Clark felt alive.
She approached the Avengers Tower, a memory playing briefly in her mind. It was when Tony was contemplating selling it back in 2017.
"I could sell it, or, you could build your legacy here. Sure, you've got years to still be an Avenger. But, what comes next? Come on, think big. You could be CEO of Stark Industries."
"Sure, Tony. As if I could ever fill those shoes."
"You can. And you will. So, I'm not selling."
And he didn't sell. She was once grateful for him not doing so, because once the Blip happened, she needed a job. So, she worked in that building everyday. It gave her a purpose after she felt no longer needed by the world.
Similarly, before she had even harnessed her powers, she worked in that building every day. Well, more like got tested on. Nevertheless, she had spent countless days of her life in this building. She grew into the woman she was today in that building.
Approaching it, she couldn't help but gaze up at the vast skyscraper. She looked back down, her hands balling into fists as she focused her energy on the building.
Suddenly, the glass windows shattered, rendering the building completely open. She walked in, stepping over the countless shards. She quickly rode the elevator to the top floors, using her key to gain access. She swiftly made her way into the suit room, noticing there was only one suit left.
Hers, left by Tony via his will.
She slipped it on, feeling that familiar feeling of tight yet breathable spandex against her skin. She looked down at it, silently marveling at the amazing work. Tony never did miss with a suit. Straightening up, she made her way back downstairs.
She passed the lab she once spent her days in, stopping briefly. The room hadn't been touched, still equipped with the tools they used to test her powers. An unwanted wave of nostalgia swept over her, causing goosebumps to form on her smooth skin.
Alex shook her head, continuing downstairs. She pushed all those juvenile thoughts down, knowing they only told fables of a fantasy. A fantasy she would soon easily forget. For a life of happiness simply rejected her, and that she would not forget so easily.
The alarms had been triggered by the break, and a swarm of police cars had already arrived. They shone flashlights on the broken windows, looking around for a culprit. Alex soon emerged from the shadows, a sigh of relief falling among the police chief.
"Miss Clark, what happened here?"
Her lips slid into a smirk, raising her hands to ignite balls of energy and pointing them at the now alarmed policemen.
"Flux was born."
With that, she turned, lifted her hands up and set the building aflame.
