From my skyscraper perch, I shivered and pulled my jacket closer around me. The icy wind tossed my silvery hair, tangling it in the two small, onyx horns on my head; the only thing keeping my nose from freezing and falling off completely was the mask on my face.

For the last three weeks, I hacked my way through every camera in the city, narrowing the yakuza's activity down to this single spot. My sister should be around here somewhere.

Overhaul forced me out of the Shie Hassaikai. He'd taken over when grandfather got ill, a little over two years ago. The very idea of him made my blood boil. He was using my little sister, a child, to create quirk erasing bullets. He had practically gloated when he had forced me from the only home I'd ever had.

My fingers mindlessly rubbed the small pendant around my neck. It was a dark silver moon shape, perfectly made to fit into another belonging to my soulmate. In our world, not only did quirks exist, but soulmates as well. Everybody was born with a pendent that perfectly fits with someone else's. Whole websites existed to help people find their soulmates.

I never looked.

At the moment, a soulmate is a distraction; I needed to focus on finding my sister.

Around mid-afternoon, my phone went off in my pocket. One of the cameras had seen my sister. She was three blocks away. I stood quickly. The easiest way to get there would be to jump from roof to roof. I took a step back and prepared myself. With a running start, I was off. Thoughts of finally seeing her again ran through my head, along with the last time I had.

(Flashback)

"Onee-chan!" Eri shouted as Kai pulled her along behind him. She was crying. Three guys had to hold me back.

"Be strong, Eri-chan. I promise I'll come back for you. In the meantime, be strong." Tears poured silently down my face. The last I saw of her was her silver hair and red eyes, the same as mine, disappearing around a corner.

Chronus, one of the men loyal to Kai, dragged me through the endless maze of hallways. I lost count of how many turns we took. He finally tossed me out of the front door. "We have orders to kill you on sight. Never return if you know what's good for you."

Wiping the tears from my eyes, I kept running. I was in the spot she was going to be in under a minute. I leaped down a short way away from the end of the alley she would come from. I looked down at my phone in my hand to be less conspicuous. My hood was pulled over my head and a black mask covered the lower part of my face.

I barely took a few steps forward before I ran straight into someone. I fell back onto the ground, my phone skidding away.

Rubbing the side of my head a little, I saw a red-gloved hand appear before me.

"My apologies, miss. I didn't see you there." The guy in front of me had golden hair and gorgeous blue eyes. He had a million-watt smile that made me blush behind my mask.

"No, I should apologize, I wasn't looking where I was going. I was trying to find-"

"Onee-chan?" A small voice called from behind the guy in front of me. It was hesitant and nearly broke my heart. Tears rose in my eyes.

My sister was standing behind him. She had bandages wrapped around almost her whole body. She wore nothing but a flimsy cotton dress and was clutching the hand of another boy with curly green hair.

"Eri-chan, there you are. You had me worried. Don't run off like that." I had to play it cool. If their outfits were any indication, these two heroes, or interns at the least. If they were at all suspicious, I wouldn't be able to make my getaway.

Eri seemed to catch on. "I'm sorry Onee-chan. I saw a kitty and was trying to catch it." She dropped her head.

"You're her sister?" The blond one asked.

I nodded, "Yeah, she has a habit of running off when she sees something cute." I turned toward her. "Come on Eri, let's go back home. Lunch is almost ready." I held my hand out to her.

"And where do you think you're going?" A smooth voice said from behind all of us. I stiffened. It was a voice I had hoped never to hear again. The slimy snake who had stolen the yakuza from my grandfather, who had turned the only home I had known into a prison before throwing me out.

Overhaul.

Eri's hand in mine began to tremble. I gave it a small squeeze in return.

"Eri. I'm talking to you. Where are you going with this stranger?" He was smart. Accusing me of kidnapping right in front of these heroes-in-training would get me out of the picture, at least for a while.

"Wait, who are you?" The blond one questioned Overhaul. "She said that this was her sister, was that a lie."

"It would seem so. I have never seen this girl before in my life." My heart sank. I knew they were going to believe him over me. The authorities always did.

As they continued talking, I slipped a nearly invisible earpiece into Eri's ear and whispered to her, "Don't worry Eri-chan. I'll come back for you. And then we can live together far away from here." Her small eyes glimmered with tears. She gave me a shallow nod.

"Miss, I'm going to need you to step away from the child and come with us for questioning." I kept my back to them and dropped Eri's hand.

"You'll have to catch me first."
