Nicole woke up to yelling outside of her bedroom window.

"What the hell?" She rubbed her eyes and put her head under the pillow.

The arguing was still there, but it was faint. It was the voice of two grown men going back and forth, but who the hell could be fighting this early in the morning?

When the voices subsided, she stood up and walked to the window, trying to completely wake herself up.

"What is going on?" She saw her mother step outside.

In the back of the house, she saw her father and Sensei Lawrence ready to fight each other.

"Sensei?" Nicole muttered, squinted.

Her mother then started reprimanding them as if they were children, telling the two to resolve their issue over breakfast.

Nicole walked away from the window once they all went inside.

She groaned and getting ready for school.

Without anyone noticing, she slipped out the door and quietly closed behind her, her messy pink ponytail swinging behind her and she got in her car and drove away.

During the practice test, Demetri and Miguel kept whispering back and forth, making Nicole and Courtney annoyed throughout the test.

"Hey," Nicole leaned her chair forward. "If the two of you don't stop whispering back and forth you're both going to regret it."

"Sorry, Cole, that's on me. I mean, it's just a practice test, so I wasn't really focusing and then Demetri over here turned it into a conversation about my girlfriend." Miguel replied.

"Hey! I was just saying how he's lucky he has a girlfriend now and doesn't have to play the long game like me!" Demetri defended.

"What makes you think you can't get a girlfriend? I don't think it would be too hard." Courtney spoke up.

"And what makes you think I can?" Demetri furrowed his eyebrows.

Courtney started to turn red and looked down.

Nicole looked at her best friend, then back at the two confused boys in front of her. "Just...finish your practice test, bozos."

The two boys reluctantly turned back around, leaving Courtney and Nicole alone.

"You were so close!" Nicole whisper-shouted.

"So close to what?" Courtney's eyes went wide.

"Court! Come on, you were trying—."

The bell suddenly rang and she jumped up. "Oops, gotta go!"

"We're going to the same place, idiot!" Nicole called after her.
