IDK WHY I WROTE THIS BUT I WAS THINKING OF THEIR AGE DIFFERENCE HANG ON WAIT OMG

illumi was five when he first met hisoka, he had travelled to york new for a mission, all on his own for the very first time.

this is how he ended up in a strange situation.

a child, without any supervision, wandering around the streets seemingly lost.

a lot of people were worried.

a woman walked up to illumi just as he had handed some jenny to the cashier of a store for some food.

"excuse me," she announced, kneeling down next to him, "where are your parents?"

illumi looked at her and thought for a moment of what to do, his mother said never to talk to strangers, especially on a mission, but this lady seemed nice.

"at home," illumi answered, assuming that was the end of the conversation. he took his food and began walking out of the store, hearing the lady follow.

"do you have any family, friends, to take care of you? are you lost?" she asked worriedly, she was starting to sound like his mother before she got angry, and an angry mother was a mean mother.

"no, i'm not lost, i'm here on a mission," he stated simply, turning the corner to try and lose this lady trailing behind him.

"listen, how about i take you home, and we'll have some nice yummy food instead of this icky stuff, and i'll help you find your parents, yeah?" she questioned.

illumi shook his head, "i don't need help finding them, i know where they are. they are at home," he replied, biting into the bread.

"hey! there you are we've been looking all over for you, is he bothering you? sorry ma'am." a strange little boy said, grabbing illumi by the arm and yanking him off the ground.

"you know him?" she asked, pointing to illumi.

the boy nodded, "of course! he's my brother!" he exclaimed, hugging illumi.

illumi tried pushing this kid away, he wanted him off. this kid was lying straight to this woman's face, and like mother always said, lying was the worst thing a person could do.

the strange boy dragged him away, down a few more corners before he stopped and let go of illumi.

"why did you lie?" he asked, staring at the stranger.

"she's known for stealing little kids who are lost, how old are you? i'm eight!" he said, holding out eight fingers.

illumi did not like this boy, he was too much for him. "i'm five, now, if you'll excuse me, i should be going, i have work to do."

he tried pushing past the boy and walking away but footsteps soon followed.

"what do you mean work? you have a job? that's so cool, i wanna be a magician when i'm older, can i show you a trick?" he yelled.

"please be quiet," illumi told him, squeezing through a ton of people in a crowd.

he really did not need this boy tagging along with him, he didn't need friends. he was an assassin, assassins don't need friends.

the boy was suddenly in front of him, illumi stopped walking, "what's your name? mine's hisoka!" he shouted, holding out his hand.

"my name does not matter, you have a funny one." he replied, brushing the hand away and maneuvering past the boy.

"awe, come on! it won't hurt you!"

"illumi," he muttered, hoping that the boy, hisoka, would leave him alone from now on.
