I'm practically dragging my feet by the time I get back to my apartment, exhaustion overpowering me. My keys jingle as I unlock my doors and stagger into my apartment, my kitty prancing up to me and rubbing against my legs.

"Hey sweet girl, did you miss me?" I speak softly to her.

I kick off my shoes quickly , relishing the feeling of the freedom my feet now have after being confined to those uncomfortable bees all night. I lock my apartment door back and shuffle to my bedroom. My apartment is nice, mainly because my job pays well. It's got a lot of windows and spacey rooms, which I love.

I grab my sweats from my closet and rip this skin tight dress from my skin, rubbing out the sore spots from my shoulders. Flopping on my bed, I grab my remote and turn on some tv, I don't like to sleep without background noise. I basically pass out as soon as I'm situated in my bed, KitKat snuggling by my side.

-

I'm not a morning person in the slightest, however I conveniently woke up at 9:30 today. Lily works until 7, so I'm going to run some cupcakes I had baked a few days ago to her around 3.

I yawn and rise out of bed, making my way to the shower. I take my sweet time getting ready, because why the hell not?

I throw on a pair of jeans and a cropped long sleeve collared shirt. After seeing KitKat, I grab my keys and make my way down to the garage.

After unlocking my car and attempting to turn it on several times, I realize my battery is dead. I reallllyyyy don't want to deal with it right now.

"How the fuck is the battery deal?! I drove you last night!" I yell, frustrated. "I'll just deal with this tomorrow, I have to go get jumper cables from the store."

I stomp out of the garage and make my way downtown to the subway station. I despise taking the subway. It's dirty, it's smelly, and I always get groped. I don't have much of a choice though.

It's a blur to the subway station, I'm still fuming about my car. Stepping onto the subway I realize there are no empty seats, so I grab onto the pole and hang on.

"You want my seat?"

I turn to see who is speaking to me, only to meet the eyes of a man with very dark features and a head of curly hair. He's attractive, and by the looks of it, tall. Men with dark hair and dark eyes have always been my type, and I blush while I admire him.

"Hello? You should take my seat, you're holding cupcakes." He speaks again, his voice has a hint of raspiness to it.

I smile, "You think I'm incapable of standing? I appreciate the gesture, but I'm just fine." I respond, I don't want to seem like I can't just stand.

He chuckles, "Calm down, I was just being a gentleman," he says while standing, pointing to his seat.

"I'm not taking it," I respond, staring at him in the eyes.

He moves in closer to me, putting my hair behind my ears, "Then I guess we'll both stand," he whispers, causing me to get goosebumps along the line of my neck. I back up slightly.

"What's your deal? You think I'm easy or something?" I scoff, he may be attractive, but who does he think he is?

"I don't think that at all, I just offered my seat to a beautiful woman, only to find out she's a bit feistier than I had anticipated."

I roll my eyes at that, "You have no idea how feisty I can get, and just because you're good looking doesn't mean I'll just give into whatever you say."

"You think I'm good looking?" he says with a smirk. Ugh, he's totally winning right now and he knows it. I can tell by the smug look on his face.

The speaker comes on and announces my stop, thank god.

"That's my stop, maybe the next person you flirt with will reciprocate your feelings." I snap.

He only laughs at that. "I have a feeling I'll be seeing you around. The name's Xavier by the way."

"Well Xavier, it was not nice meeting you," I say, flipping around and strutting away. He was so arrogant, so why is my heart beating so fast?

I hurry to the headquarters building, entering through the employee door. Once I'm at Lily's department I'm practically buzzing with excitement, I have to tell her about this hot stranger!

-

"So yeah, he was an ass but damn, he was fine!" I say, wrapping up my story.

"Well," Lily says in between bites of her cupcake, "If you're this worked up over him, maybe you don't hate him as much as you're making it seem." She smiles.

I roll my eyes, "Oh shut up, be nice to me I brought you cupcakes!"

"And I am eternally grateful, but I actually gotta do this work. Thanks for the cupcakes girly," Lily beams.

We exchange goodbyes, and as I'm on my way out I was stopped by the lady at the front desk.

"Frankie, I know it's your day off, but the boss wants to see you for a minute."

I just blink, I only ever see the boss for when I'm assigned a kill order, but it's my day off. Is this urgent?

I follow the woman up to the boss' office. His name is Mr. Nelson. He's a scary dude with a nasty snarl.

I'm gestured into his office and welcomed in.

"Hello Frankie, I'm so sorry to call you up here on your day off, but I had heard you were in the building and I figured I'd tell you about this order as soon as possible."

I raise my eyebrows, so this is urgent.

"What's the issue?"

"You're being targeted by a hitman from another organization. You were assigned to take out one of their high ranking employees a few weeks ago, and now they've sent one of their best hitmen to assassinate you."

My jaw drops, I'm a target now?

"So, what do I do?" I ask.

"You get to them first, your order is to kill them instead. If not, they may come for our secrets. Their name is Xavier Roque." He says, shoving a photo of the man across the table, a photo which happens to be the same man from the subway.

Oh shit.
