"And the award for best drama performance of the year goes to..."
"Harry Styles!" I turned to Niall and frowned, how did I win? I got up from my seat and walked up to the front of the assembly hall as everybody around me applauded me, I was greeted by Liam and my Mr Holland as they smiled and handed me my award.
"Congratulations Harry." Liam said as he shook my hand, I thanked them both and stood in line with the people that had won other awards. It wasn't long before Niall and Zayn were up on stage, Niall won a sports award and Zayn won a 'most improved student', however I disagree with him winning it. Soon enough all awards had been handed out and we were all bowing before walking back to our seats, we sat down and I placed my award underneath my chair.
"Well my lovely year elevens, this is it! The past years you've spent in this school have hopefully been an incredible experience for you, it certainly has for me. I've enjoyed having every single one of you here and I really don't want to let you leave. Hopefully some of you will be staying here for sixth form, but if you're leaving for college I wish you the best of luck, just make sure you come back and let us know how you're getting on." A few sniffles filled the room as people began to get emotional, I was a little teary eyed, as it was our last day I was allowed.
"You don't have to listen to me ramble on forever because your teachers have put together a little video clip with their own messages in, we hope you enjoy." He stepped to the side and a video clip began playing on the screen, everybody's eyes locked onto it and listened to all of the comments our teachers had to say.
After going through nearly all the subjects we finally reached drama and Liam's face popped up on the screen,
"Hello year elevens! I don't know if that sounded cringy, I'm sorry. Anyway, I just want to say you are all amazing students with such great potential and I really don't want any of you to leave. I've loved spending every second with you lot, especially my drama students, you never failed to make me smile. A big congratulations to Harry for winning the drama award, you really deserved it as you made the play a great success. Congratulations to the other students such as Niall and Zayn for also putting on an incredible performance, I'll miss you all lots, keep in touch!" His face disappeared off the screen and the whole room was filled with sniffling sounds and the odd loud crying, suddenly another face flashed onto the screen and my heart exploded. It was Louis.
"Hello Winton High! I just wanted to include a little message for the students I'd worked with during my time at Winton, you guys made it such a fun experience for me and the play was absolutely incredible to watch! You certainly made me and Mr Payne proud, as well as the other students and the wonderful audience that came to see you. I know how difficult it is to perform to such a large crowd and you all did it so well that I could see you becoming famous actors and actresses, especially some of the lead actors and actresses like Harry and Char. I can see big things for the both of you in the future! To the rest of the year elevens that I didn't get to spend much time with, you all made my stay at Winton High fantastic and I can't wait to see what you guys are doing in the future. Good luck to you all and thank you." He smiled one last time before he disappeared off the screen and I couldn't help but cry, just seing him there so happy made my heart melt. He hadn't forgotten about me quite clearly but it touched me. Niall put his arm around my neck and pulled me into him as I quietly cried, luckily I could pull my crying off as me being emotional about leaving. Only Niall and Liam knew it wasn't because of that.
Our headteacher made his way back up to the front of the hall and smiled widely at us all before rambling on again for another ten minutes,
"So this is it guys. your final day and your last ever assembly with us here at Winton High. When the bell goes you can get all your pictures with teachers and students and get your tops and books signed, year books and prom tickets can be picke up from Mr. Winger who will be near the fire exit if anybody wants to pick them up today. Good luck to you all and I hope to see you again in the near future!" We all waited for the bell to ring before we took to our feet and began walking around with our books and cameras, there were people crying, cheering, laughing, singing, you name it, they were doing it. I grabbed onto Niall and we walked around, having pictures taken with people who had barely spoken to us for the whole five years we'd been here, but it was a bit of fun because it was the last day. We signed people's tops as they did ours before we moved onto the teachers. I walked over to my English teacher who broke down in tears when she was saying goodbye to me, she'd always been one of my favourite teachers and I'd always been one of her favourite students (they're not supposed to have favourites but she made an acception). I handed Niall my camera and he took a photo of us before she signed my top and my book, wishing me all the best for the future and doing the same for Niall. We continued with our other subjects before finally reaching drama, which Niall was extremely pleased about of course. I took the camera and they stood next to each other smiling sweetly, I snapped the picture and then got my own with Liam.
"I hope Louis' message was a nice surprise." Liam said to me as he wrote in my book,
"It was definitely a surprise." I laughed,
"They weren't going to show it because of what had happened, so I begged them as hard as I could and made up a load of rubbish saying it would look more suspicious if he just left without saying goodbye. I knew I'd win Mr Holland around." I smiled at him, even though we'd had a rough year I'd never been more thankful to have such an understanding teacher.
"Thank you, it really means a lot. I just hope things work out after this, the only event we have left is prom and then I'm done with Winton High for good. When are you two going to, you know?" I questioned, taking my book back from him.
"Not until after prom, they might not let me go if we announce it now and I really don't want to miss out on it." I nodded slowly, I really hoped things worked out for Liam and Niall. Although we had a fall out and I was jealous of their relationship, Liam really did make my best friend happy and that was all I could ask for
"Just got to be a little more sneaky for a month and then all is free." Niall giggled, nudging Liam's arm slightly. Liam smiled at him before passing him his book,
"I've got something for you too Harry, it's from Louis but don't open it in here." He handed me an envelope with my name on and I slid it into my pocket.
"He really misses you."
