"Thomas Riddle was a wicked man,"...
"However, it wasn't until he attended Hogwarts that he showed his true colors,"

"Mercy, you need to understand the pain that school has caused your family."
"Nana, mother, please. You must understand what is in the best interest of my future," my dearest mother's hand was held in mine while my other hand was occupied by my grandmother's thin thigh as I grasped it gently. As I gazed between the two of them my eyes held plead. I knew how my father's experience changed him, I had already missed my first year of school due to it. My mother hated the idea of me attending Hogwarts, but it was my legacy. I had to change the negativity that had been cast onto anyone who shared a name with my deadbeat father.
So when my registration letter came in, the two women I shared a burning love towards sat in front of me, the precious letter sat in the center of our mahogany table, burning into ashes due to my mother's spell. It stung a hole through my heart to see my only hope in flames.
"Mercury, you have all the magic and books you need here," Grandmother said with a nod, sending my body into a frenzy. How could they do this to me? My mother had attended Hogwarts, she never shared her stories but I knew it couldn't be as terrible as they made it out to be.
"You are all as evil as Voldemort!" My voice shrieked. It was only a moment after that my chair was flung away from my body as I stood. My mother and grandmother both shared a look of utter shock before my back was turned and I was storming out the door.
"Mercury Willow Riddle! You get back here this instant!"
I was already gone as my mother's voice bellowed through the walls. I slammed the front door with all the force my body could comprehend.
If she wasn't going to let me attend my dream school, I was going to find my own way in.
My feet carried me to the end of our driveway. In my 13 years of living in this very house, I hadn't seen my driveway much, which brought the number of times I'd even been out of the gates almost zero. As I stood in the warm breeze I took in my surroundings.
It was peaceful. My house could only dream of having this same feeling. Simple relaxation and calmy fresh air were all I needed to realize my next plan of attack on getting into Hogwarts. Dumbledore had been practically begging on his knees for me to join. I guess the old wise man wanted to have redemption, he wanted to make sure the same mistake was not made twice. I respected him just for that. His hope for me was enough for me to get into Hogwarts and kill anything that lands in my path. A true Slytherin at heart.
I fill my lungs with fresh air before turning to look at the mailbox. It was overflowing with letters of the same color. From the few that laid before me on the ground, I could tell they all held a similar message from the wax seal. It saddened me, knowing I would never have my family's approval to be what I've always wanted: a Hogwarts wizard.
It was a terrible idea but I knew what had to be done. My mind was racing but only one thing was clear.
My legs strode towards my house. I didn't care for my mother's voice that shrieked through my eardrums. I only had one thing to do, and I was running out of time.
"Mother, Nana," my voice was stern as I bubbled with unexplainable confidence. "I am going to Hogwarts with your blessing or not."
"Are you mad Mer-"
"Yes, she is mum, because without our blessing she won't get in," My mother's simple sneer was enough to make my blood boil, but I was too far into this to waste my only chance
