Chapter 6: Breaking Up

Almost a month had passed and they were planning more and more pranks but Remus' mother got very sick and he had to go visit her. When he came back, he looked sick and had to spend some time in the hospital wing.

He was released but his mood wasn't very good. the group wanted to make him happy and knew that he needed some time to relax. So they thought of a plan. They decided that they would show everyone that they had fought and the group had broken down while actually working together the whole time.

They decided what they would do and who would be on which side. They went to the common room at the time when it was the most crowded. James and Sirius were acting as if they were in a huge fight. None of them actually insulted anyone but they made sure that it was loud. Lily took sided with Sirius while Severus took side with James. Lily and Severus started fighting as if on cue for not choosing their respective sides. Then they stopped and looked at Remus and Peter right in the eyes to see who they chose.

Both of them thought for a minute and chose opposite sides. Peter went with Sirius and Remus went with James. They left the common room still shouting as if they were fighting. As soon as they reached the courtyard, they burst out laughing. Then they decided to start pranking each others while actually pranking the rest of the houses. Once, James, Remus and Severus went to the great hall before anyone else woke up and put a small sticking charm on all glasses and plates. So whenever someone tried lifting something, It would loose stickiness the moment the person pulled the object forcefully enough.

Meanwhile, Lily, Sirius and Peter went to each house's common room entry, staff room entry and classroom entry and put muggle lasers, which could scream so loudly that all of Hogwarts could listen, anytime someone tried to come or go through. They waited for the other 3 to come back before setting the lasers on for Gryffindor.

They came out of their dormitories as soon as the first laser went off and went to the great hall pretending as if they were not aware about who had done it. The entire morning was a chaos which went exactly as they had planned. Eventually, the teachers removed the spells and the muggle-borns removed the lasers while older students reversed the spell on them. But they only did the common room entrances. They were yet to see the staff rooms and classrooms. The group had managed to cancel all the classes until break since new surprises came just as they thought that the pranks had finished. Thus, Remus got a bit of rest and his mood improved.

They still continued to act as if they had fought. The entire school was shocked to see that they were not talking to each other. McGonagall and Slughorn tried to bring them together by assigning projects together for the entire year. That's when the bubble burst. They all burst out laughing and finally told both of them that their separation was a prank. They didn't mention that they were the ones who has put lasers or stuck utensils as they didn't want to get into detention.
