Chapter 1. The main group

y/N, an orphan, who had just lost their only guardian/relative, her sister, was wandering around in the street, trying to find their sister. Their cream hospital dress was slightly waving in the wind, joined by the flowing of their [long/short] hair, their scarlet-red eyes, which rivalled the beauty of the Kurta's eyes, glowed in the sight of the sun.

Most people were giving them weird looks, some pitiful, but all of them just walked on and continued their days, ignoring them. One woman though helped her, she had dark blue hair and a quite inappropriate clothing choice.

"Honey, where are your parents?" The woman asked the younger person, kneeling to see them, "My mommy abandoned me," Y/N said, looking slightly up to look at the woman, "I am trying to find my older sister," The woman smiled a bit at the little boy/girl,  "my name is Nemuri Kayama, but call me Midnight because it is easier." Y/N nodded, staring into Midnight's blue eyes.

An hour later, Midnight took Y/N home to look after them for a few hours before they set out on their trip again. Midnight bathed Y/N, but was hugely shocked when she saw how long and deep their scars were, which went from their shoulder to their wrist, Midnight wrapped the scars with gauge and gave Y/N a few outfits for their trip.

The first outfit consisted of a white, long-sleeved shirt, black, silky tights, an aqua overall dress/normal overalls, and some orange boots. (Just Eri's outfit, but blue.)

The second outfit had a dark blue long-sleeved shirt with a vest underneath and dark blue trousers to go with it. There were stripes on it and it seemed like a uniform, there were also black flats along with it

The third outfit was a white, long-sleeved shirt with a blue-collar, and a blue skirt/leggings, there were brown shoes for this outfit.

The fourth and final one was a pastel pink kimono, with a brown haori.

They were currently wearing the first outfit and was sitting at Midnight's table. "Honey, before you set off on your quest, here is some tea as well as rice. Also, to help you, what is your sister's name?" Midnight asked the girl/boy. "Her name is Eri," Y/N said.

Time skip

Y/N was on their own now, Midnight had provided them with a few items to help them, and told them that they should go to the hunter's exam as hunters get special treatment. So that's what they did, they were travelling on a boat, A boy came on the trip after, he said about being the best hunter in the world, they wished it had been that easy, but the boy didn't even know nen for crying out loud.

They were soon put into a room, where the majority of people were tumbling around, they were extremely seasick from the storm. They were just looking through her items again when they saw a squid toy. They had seen these before, but where? They sighed, squeezing it a little, snuggling into it. Their red eyes never left the squid's, well that is until they were taken to a separate room,

"What are your names?" The captain asked the 4 inside of the room, 3 of them had answered, Kurapika, Leorio and Gon. They all looked at her. "My name is Y/N." They knew this was a sort of examiner, and she wanted to pass.

"Alright, why do you want to become a hunter?" Gon immediately answered and Leorio gave him a lecture. "I want to find my older sister. I haven't seen her for about a week, we have been separated, I love her more than anything in the world," Y/N answered. Leorio looked pretty pissed, but sort of understood the way they felt at the same time. "Someone I met said that if I become a hunter I will be able to have great bonuses," Y/N answered truthfully. "I see," said the captain.

Time skip.

The group of 4 were now on the dock, Gon was talking to the captain, and Y/N was recalling the events that had just taken place.

They were working on getting the sails down, it was rather hard for the majority of the crew. The was a massive gust of wind, sending (Katzo/Katsuo? Idk) off the side of the boat. Kurapika and Leorio tried to catch his ankles, but failed miserably. Gon, however, jumped off to receive the man who had fallen off.

Leorio and Kurapika caught his ankles and pulled him up. Y/N was not fond of the idea of Gon risking his life, they wanted him to complete his goal, so they went over to him. "Mister Gon?" Y/N asked the older person. "Hm? Oh! Yeah Y/N?" Gon had asked the little boy/girl a question which they responded with, "Please don't risk your life again, I want you to complete your goal.." Gon chuckled and ruffled Y/N's -long/short- -hair colour- hair. "You don't need to worry about me Y/N! I'm fine! I'll continue to fight through the hunter's exam and find my dad!" He said with a wide grin. They looked up and tried to do the same, using their hands to raise the sides of their mouth.

"What are you doing?" kurapika asked the girl/boy. "I'm trying to do the same thing Mister Gon is doing with his mouth," Leorio questioned them a little. "Smiling? Do you know how to smile?" Leorio asked the younger person. "I forgot what smiling felt a long time ago.." They were flabbergasted. Their 1 task was to make this kid smile. They would do it.

Kurapika was holding Y/N' small hands in his own, crouching down a little. Kurapika ruffled their hair, smiling slightly, and seeing their friend smile, warmed up their insides, 🔅. They were somewhat happy. The emotion didn't show in their face, but they were happy😊.
