As Aelin stepped through the portal it began dragging me behind her. Rhys gripped my wrist, but the portal was too powerful, it dragged me through then snapped closed behind me.

I was swimming through the darkness, I could see Aelin's golden hair rippling in front of me. I reached out and grabbed her shoulder.

"Why are you here?" The words were sharp, but I knew it was because she was panicking, this wasn't supposed to happen.

"It dragged me through, any idea where we are." We were firmly holding hands now, not wanting to loose each other.

"No, this isn't my home."

A light flared in front of us, and two figures appeared.

"Children." I had no idea who this shining woman was but Aelin was staring at her in awe, the second woman.

"Amren? What the hell is going on?"

The glowing woman turned her golden eyes to me.

"Aelin knows what is going on but Feyre, I need to explain to you"

"I have no idea what is going on!" Aelin snapped at her.

The woman played her no heed and began her story.

"My name is Mala; I am the Lady of the Light. My sister Deanna is Lady of the Hunt. Aelin is my heir, she has my powers and is known as a fire bringer. You are the heir of Deanna, a huntress with a natural born skill, you begged Deanna to not take Aelin's life, so this is the solution."

I whipped my head to Amren "You have known me for almost a year, and you didn't think to tell me this?"

She gave me a small smile and carried on where her sister left off "The lock demands the power be drained from Aelin but if you both forge the lock together, your powers will still be drained but only by half, both of you shall live."

I looked at Aelin before looking back at the sisters

"My life was given to me by the High Lords, if you take some of their powers won't it still kill me?"

Mala shook her head "Rhysand's magic is more than the others, he knew you were mates and gave you more as a result, his power will be drained, and you will die but all he has to do if give you another drop of his power."

She said this like it was the simplest thing in the world, I turned to Aelin and spoke into her mind.

'Aelin?'

'What the hell?'

'Don't worry about this right now, I am willing to do this to save your life, what do you say?'

'I can't take you from your mate'

'You aren't, it's ok, this will get you home.'

'Ok'

I pulled back from her mind and turned to the sisters "We will do it."
