I got up coughing. "what the hell was that?!" I had bruises where his fingers were digging into my skin. "I had a nightmare about red skull hurting you!" I sat next to him and he kissed each of my bruises and there was a lot. "babe as long as I'm with you nothing will be able to hurt me. You are captain America and I'm lucky to have you love me." he smiled and our lips met and sparks flew. We kissed for about five minutes until I pulled back to catch my breath. "too much for little lauren?"
"nope I'm fine steve." Tony scoffed in the doorway which made me jump and aim a gun at him. He raised his hands slowly and I lowered my aim "sorry dad Steve's got me all jumpy now." he rolled his eyes and walked in. "look Lauren this relationship. I don't like it. I mean I like it when you're happy. I just don't think you and Steve are right for each other." at that point I had tears threatening to fall so I picked up my bag and shoved past Tony. I sat on the edge of the base crying a bit. "agent?" I looked over my shoulder and saw Natasha. "yes agent romanoff?"
"what's wrong? Is tony being an ass?"
"yup he said me and steve aren't right for each other. I could've hurt him there and then!" she laughed. As she was laughing she sat beside me. "Lauren you have no idea how long I've been looking for someone who finally wants the same thing as me." I laughed a bit and Steve came running outside. "baby girl! I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"I leave you two alone." Natasha smirked and I narrowed my eyes. "I hate you sometimes romanoff." I heard her laugh as she walked away. "hey why'd you run off earlier?"
"oh y'know didnt feel like hurting the man who abandoned me 13 years ago."
"I thought you were 12?"
"I turned 13 yesterday."
"babe why didn't you tell me?"
"it's just another year for me. I never celebrated my birthday with my other family." tears welled in my eyes as I talked about them till something made the aircraft shake. "JARVINA SUIT ME UP." I stood up and the blue and silver metal wrapped around me and I went to see what caused it. "STEVE!" I had got to the engines and saw that someone was in there. Steve came running and the people shot at him but I stood in front of him. I flipped my mask up and whispered to him "go get your shield I'll be fine." he quickly kissed me and ran inside. I set up my video intercom system and called Tony. "yes buttercup."
"honey sort that brain out if you still think you can call me buttercup." I heard him laugh. "where are you?"
"in engine 3."
"why are you in there?!""
"fixing. Where are you?"
"outside engine 1."
"why?"
"restarting. Just keep me posted." I turned head and saw Steve throw his shield at me. I dodged and he swore under his breath and I flipped my mask up. "oh it's you."
"yeah it's me. Are you trying to kill me?!"
"no." I threw him his shield like it was a frisbee and he caught it. I flew to the controls of engine 1 and saw it had to be started with a push. "lil me where are you now?"
"first, I'm nothing like you! Second, I'm inside engine 1 and I'm gonna push it to restart it."
"Lauren if that thing gets up to speed you'll get shredded."
"that's why if that happens I'm saying this now. Steve Rogers you are my world I couldnt ask for anything else in my time of need than to see you smile. I love you captain america and I will always be in your heart and you will always be in mine. Dad if I die I don't want you to mourn for to long we've only properly bonded for a few weeks but it feels like I'm actually home thanks for that. I love you both like I've known you my lifetime and I don't want that to slip from your memories." I heard sniffles and looked over at Steve and saw him trying to hold back tears. "does my captain need a hug?" he nodded and I flew over and hugged him tightly. He kissed me softly and I kissed him back. "hey love birds doesn't the billionaire get a hug?" I laughed and gave my dad a hug. "I love you daddy." he let me go and I went into the engine and started pushing. Eventually the engine got up to speed "STEVE PULL THE RED LEVER TOWARDS YOU." I drifted backwards from the fan blade. "uh oh." I slipped under the other fan blades and was being slowly shredded. "ANY OW DAY NOW! oh fuck it I'll do it myself." I blasted up through the engine and crash landed next to steve. My breathing was insecure and I had several cuts. I slid my mask up and Tony picked me up and carried me inside to my room. "jarvina -cough- take the suit off -cough-"
"yes miss." the suit came off and it was just my face that was covered with cuts. I laid there with ragged breathing and my arc flashed on and off. "lauren? Lauren I'll make you a new arc. Do not die on me though!" I didnt respond so he set to work on making a new arc. I laid still for what seemed like forever until my arc was taken out and replaced. "ugh it tastes of coconut and metal." I had a mouthful of water but I spat it out because it was salted. Bruce came to my side and checked my cuts which were healing nicely. "this is the worst case of deja vu I've had yet Dr. Banner." he laughed and I sat up. "well there isn't any permanent damage just a few bruises that's all." he let me leave and I went to my room and put foundation on to cover up the bruises. "miss stark?"
"hello jarvina."
"mr Rogers is at the door."
"show him in." I started working on my new suit till I had strong arms wrap around me and place the blueprint on my nightstand. "hey steve."
"I love you so much never scare me like that again!" I chuckled and buried my face in his shoulder. "I'm sorry Steve. I didn't want you to worry that much." he felt the tears on his shoulder and pulled my face up so our eyes met. "hey baby girl. Don't cry. I love you so much." our lips crashed once more and I knew this was the man I loved.
