Jackson seized the whip before it hit his face, pulled the handle into his left hand, and swung it. His brain calculated exactly what angle, how much force was needed and when to swing it right before he did. It hit home, smacking right into Sebastian, pushing him onto the floor. His head hit the floor, knocking him out.
"Where's that stele!" He said, finding it in the opposite corner of the room. He snatched it up, then moved over to Clary and Jace. He saw exactly what rune to give them, and followed accordingly.
"Thank the angel," breathed Clary, "we need to get out of here right away"
"I know where he kept our stuff," informed Jace, "but we'll need to hurry!" Clary reached out for the stele, and Jackson gave it to her. She drew an open rune where Sebastian had come in. The stone wall slid open, revealing a modern apartment.
"Upstairs!" Jace said. With Jackson hot on their heels, they dashed up a glass and steel spiraling staircase and burst into what looked like Sebastian's room. There were three duffel bags packed, and it looked like one for each of them. Clary gave Jackson the stele back, grabbed her own, and took out three sets of black clothes that looked like leather, but were tougher.
"Put this on." She said.
"What it is?"
"Shadowhunter gear," Jace chimed in, it will protect you." He tossed the bags to each person and pulled out a blade-thingy. "It's called a seraph blade," he added, "it draws on the power of angels, and burns through anything demonic." Clary got another one out, and they both murmured a word. Suddenly, a giant white blade shot out of each of them, radiating light.
"I think I'll keep the whip. I like the way it works," Jackson said. "Now we need to GO!"
They all raced out of the room and shot down the staircase, hitting the ground running.
"How do we get out? I have no idea where I am!" Jackson informed.
"Take a left here, right up ahead, and Jace can open the door out."
They all scrambled, trying to get out. When they reached what looked like a dead end, Jace open a door and they ran out into a city.
"Where are we?" Clary asked.
"London,"Jackson said, "look, there's Big Ben"
"Foolish people! Get back here right now!" Sebastian exclaimed.
"Dammit!" All three of them cried, "We need to get to the London Institute. There's some sort of ghost protection. He'll have no chance of making it there." Jace ordered, "But we'll need to split up."
"Just give me an address, and I can make it on my own. I've memorized maps of most major cities." Jackson informed. He lets Jace tell him where it is, then gave himself a couple of speed and stamina runes. Once he finished, he shot off, taking the long way.
"GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW YOU IDIOT," Jackson heard Sebastian yell behind him. So he was the one Sebastian wanted. Crap, he thought. Sebastian was gaining on him. What could I do with this whip? He uncoiled the silver length and gripped the leather handle. It would be pointless to try and scale buildings, but he could bring down a street pole.
"GET BACK HERE AND I WON'T HURT YOU," Sebastian lied, "STOP RIGHT NOW AND I'LL LET YOU LIVE."
Wait for it, wait for it, and swish! The whip coiled around the pole and Jackson waited. Before Sebastian could stop, Jackson pulled down as hard as he could. The pole fell straight on top of his brother. "Yeah!" Jackson exclaimed.
Sebastian was already starting to pry the pole off of him, so Jackson grabbed the whip and dashed off. He could see the building on his left! Almost there! He was getting closer and closer...he could see Clary's bright red hair. He was going to make it!
And then Sebastian tackled him.
