"okay, everyone fall in."
class had begun and johnny had summoned all the students, new and old, into neat rows and lines; with the majority of his top students placed in the front row. that included hawk, miguel, aisha, and now, myself. i was standing between miguel and hawk, as my dad paced the front of the mat, assessing the newer faces he could spot throughout the crowd.
"i thought my last group of recruits was pathetic. but if you do what i tell you to do, you'll at least have a chance of becoming a fighter," he explained firmly, "but to do that, you gotta fight."
for the past two weeks, i'd been living with my dad again. since then, i hadn't spoken to either sam or robby, and today, i took it upon myself to finally see what cobra kai was all about, up close and in-person. i'd only ever formed an opinion about cobra kai based off what daniel had to say about it. at that point, i was so angry at my dad, that i didn't even want to hear what he had to say. and after watching miguel fight dirty to beat my brother, i'd finalized that opinion; cobra kai was poison.
but... then, sam broke my heart.
and robby broke my trust. and now, there was nobody i could rely on.
i didn't even want to be here, i just had no choice but to settle. which is why i decided to give my dad yet another undeserving chance.
"so, which one of you has the balls to take on the champ?" sensei lawrence challenged, scanning the crowd. everyone fell silent for a tense couple of seconds. i tried to hide a smirk, as it was a rare sight for me to see my dad maintain authority over this many people. he was always such a loose cannon with an astonishingly unpredictable aura, that it was almost a given for strangers to underestimate him as an idiot.
