Tires squealed as Cole whipped the car around the tight corner, throwing Ambrose against the door. "Easy!" he shouted, tightening his grip on the seat.

"Step on it!" Piper's voice cut through the roar of the engine, eyes narrowed at the road ahead.

Exhaust fumes choked the air as Cole floored the accelerator. The world blurred past the windows in streaks of color. Ambrose's heart hammered against his ribs, adrenaline spiking with each near miss of oncoming traffic.

"Off the gas!" Phoebe cried, slamming her palm against Cole's shoulder. "Are you trying to get us killed?"

Cole shrugged, hands raised in surrender. "Just following orders. Want to take the wheel?"

Tension crackled between the sisters like static electricity. Piper leaned forward, knuckles white on the dash. "The demon's not going to wait around for us to stroll up and vanquish it."

"We don't even know if we can!" Phoebe's ponytail whipped across her face as she whirled to face Piper. "Scrying only tells us where evil lurks, not how powerful."

Ambrose kept his focus straight ahead, the taste of ozone thick on his tongue. Ever since Paige had started her new job, he'd been pulled into the fray alongside Piper and Phoebe's demon hunts. A crash course in combat he hadn't expected.

"We've already taken down two this week," Piper countered, defiant. "I'd say we're doing alright."

Phoebe scoffed. "Because we had backup." She jutted her chin at Ambrose and Cole. "Three witches and a half-demon don't add up to the Power of Three. No offense."

Ambrose waved a dismissive hand, keeping his expression neutral. No need to get caught in the crossfire.

"So we're just supposed to sit around and wait for them to attack?" Piper's voice rose in exasperation. "You know they'll pick us off one by one if we don't go on the offensive!"

"They're coming after you anyway, Piper." Cole's low tones cut through the mounting tension. "The Source wants you out of the way."

Phoebe stabbed a finger at Ambrose. "And Ambrose needs to know being a witch isn't just about battling demons twenty-four seven! We're neglecting Paige's training because you're so hellbent on hunting every warlock, demon and draconian in the city!"

Ambrose flinched at the verbal shrapnel peppering him from both sides. Piper wheeled on him, eyes blazing. "Well? What do you think?"

His mouth went dry as two pairs of eyes bored into him, demanding he take a side. Phoebe was right, but something darker lurked beneath Piper's relentless need to fight. He treaded carefully. "Phoebe's got a point. The demons will come for us regardless." Piper opened her mouth, but he pressed on. "But we can't go chasing down every evil blip that pops up, hoping we don't bite off more than we can chew."

Piper's shoulders slumped as she turned away, folding her arms across her chest. An uncomfortable silence fell over the car.

"So..." Cole ventured after a beat. "Do we have an actual plan here or...?"

"The plan," Piper cut him off, "is to vanquish the demon."

Cole arched an eyebrow. "Any chance you've got those powers mastered? Or are we winging random freezes and explosions?"
