A/N: I just wanted to apologize for this chapter being a day late. I'm super busy with my classes Monday-Friday, so the weekend is the only time I get to write, but this weekend was busier than usual, so I just had little to no time to write, trying to meet other deadlines. I can't promise this won't happen again because it honestly just depends on the week. I hope you guys can understand. In other news, we have over 800 reads, and we are seriously close to 900! Thank you guys so much for the support, and thank you to the people who have been adding my story to their reading lists. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I feel like many Charmed stories have been popping up recently. It's been interesting to see how others add their own little twist to the story. Also, I just wanted to let you know we only have six or seven more chapters left before we are completely done with season 4 of Charmed. I'm hoping being so close to the end will give me a pep in my fingers, and I can knock out these chapters. We'll discuss what happens after. I promise! I've attached a picture of who I imagine Mason to be. He just looks smug, but...very tempting. Perfect for a demon, I guess. Well, I hope you enjoy the chapter!________________________________________________
I push the warehouse door apart, and they screech as they slide across the floor. I walk into the dimly lit warehouse squinting at the darkness, hesitant to continue forward.
"Post Tenebras Spero Lucem." A small ball of light appears in my hand. Once there is a significant amount of light in the building, I hear the clatter of small creatures scattering to find a hiding place in the remaining darkness.
I cautiously begin walking towards the small storage space where I left Derrick and Mason.
Where is Derrick? I thought I told him to guard this place while I was away and I'm just walking in-
"Ambrose!" I hear Kai shout in my mind.
I whip my head around and see an energy ball heading my way. I don't even have time to react as it is going to hit me right in the face. The ring, of course, sensing the incoming danger, immediately responds and absorbs the energy ball. I release the breath I was holding. I see another energy ball appear in the darkness. I put more energy into the ball of light so that I can see my attacker.
"Derrick," I say once the light reaches him and shows his face. A look of recognition flashes across his face, and he immediately extinguishes the energy ball. "It's just me," I tell him.
"You..." Derrick grabs his head and groans. "I don't--No!" He thrashes around before sinking to his knees.
I walk towards him, and once I reach him, I lift his head, and he shuts his eyes tight. "Look at me, Derrick." He shakes his head, but I persist. "Derrick. Open your eyes." He slowly opens them and stares at me. "You are fine. You are safe. Calm down."
The tenseness in his body dissipates, and he stands up. "My apologizes, Reaper." He slightly bows his head at me.
Kai appears beside Derrick and observes him. "The people you influence are starting to become more subservient than usual. Now they're bowing before you like you're a king or something."
"It seems like it," I answer him in my head. "I don't think my influence has ever lasted longer than a day. I never needed it to. I do know the longer I am away, though, the less my influence affects the person. Fortunately, I made it back before he regained full control over himself."
"How have things been while I've been gone, Derrick?" I turn around and start heading to the storage room.
"Quiet for the most part," He says. "There have been the occasional group of teens who thought it would be fun to explore, but some strange noises in the dark scare them off pretty quickly."
