Where the birds fly, their wings can soar wherever they want. Eren has always hated the birds. He was so jealous of birds. They could go wherever they want whenever they want and no one could stop them but their selves.Eren hated his town. His dead town. It was like a ghost. Nothing exciting ever happens. Nothing interesting to see, feel, hear, touch, smell. Nothing at all. He lived on a small little island called Marvin Island. The sun never shines, the sky is always cloudy, and everything looks gray. Eren was the exact opposite. When you think of an island, you think of sand, beaches, palm trees, the Sun, and surfboards. But in reality, it was a land for the wasted.
So all Eren could do was look out at the sea and wonder what was beyond it. What was beyond this dead little island? What was beyond the bright sea? He will never know... But continue to live in a ghost town that was always sad and foggy.
Eren moves his toes within the crunchy sand as the cold breeze billows his entire body. The sun wasn't out as always but he could still see the sea and how the waves move freely. Out and in. A rhythm that it makes at it's own timing whether if you like it or not.
"This is depressing. As always." Y/N says next to him as she usually has her bored expression. Eren knew she was right but he wasn't like Marvin Island. He was like the mainland.
"Whatever. It's still nice, though." Eren chuckles.
"No it's not." Y/N responded bluntly.
Y/N never understood why Eren would always want to be by her side. He wasn't like a parasite but more like a dog following it's owner wherever it went. Staying loyal to them. Y/N didn't understand a lot of things about Eren. One thing she didn't understand was his love for the beach. The sea.
Y/N also lived in this dead town they called home. Marvin Island. Y/N was exactly like this dead town. Y/N accepted a long time ago that she was going to go through the human system the world set up for everyone: be born, go to school, go through more school just to get a job you hate, get a job you hate and get some money, retire and live lonely, and die. Y/N never understood why Eren refused to take that path. It was the only one. They all had no choice.
In this dead town, it was Eren and Y/N. Polar opposites best friends who were sophomores in highschool. One having many dreams while the other didn't.
"Come on. Don't you want to leave this place? It's so... depressing. Like you said." Eren asked as he gazes over to her while she only looked out at the gray sea.
"Yeah but... that would cost shit-ton of money. People like us probably won't get much money... We're better off dead. This island is known for the land of the wasted." Y/N responds.
Eren frowns at her statement and turns his gaze back to the sea once more. In his eyes, if he could just grow wings and soar through the sky like the birds to fly above the Atlantic, he would be able to see beyond the sea.
Oh, how Eren had so many wonders and aspirations. If only they both had enough time.
