Eren had been freaking out.

It has been week or two since he asked you out and you haven't responded to his answer. Did you not like him? Did you not like the kiss? Was he going too fast? Was he too weird? All these thoughts were the only things that were running in his head and it was shaking him to the core.

He's never been this anxious over a girl. He tried telling himself that he doesn't care and that he'll accept anything that you say but inside he wants you to like him—no love him. He wants to be with you and he wants you to be with him and no one else. It's his secret selfish desire and that's what he wants.

Of course, the universe isn't nice and Eren Yeager is very aware of that since the age of ten.

Eren numbly picks at his pasta as his father ate while looking through his newspaper. "How are you feeling, Eren?" Grisha asked.

"I'm fine. All I did was puke." Eren said and his father didn't argue and went back to looking at the newspaper.

"I mean how are you feeling. Not just medically. You have a long face." Grisha said.

"Just... stuff..." Eren mumbled.

Grisha raised an eyebrow. "What type of stuff?" Grisha asked. "Is it about... Y/N?" Grisha asked and Eren immediately perked up as his eyes widen.

"How do you know her?" Eren asked - almost yelling.

"I... I was going through your room and I found a letter so I read it." Grisha said.

"I hate you!" Eren said and stood up from the dinner table with embarrassed rosy cheeks before running to his bedroom. Grisha only rolled his eyes before going back to eating his pasta.

"Teenagers..."

You sat there staring intensely at the painting you made. Your eyebrow was scrunched as you nibbled your lower lip wondering if this was good or not.

"What the hell is that trash." Levi said with a confused expression.

"They said I have to paint something that makes me feel alive." you said.

"Air? You painted air?" Levi asked. It was true. You didn't really understand so you painted some grey and blue in there to make air. "They weren't actually meaning to paint things that make your body alive, they meant what makes you feel alive." Levi explained.

"Urgghh...." you groaned in annoyance.

"W-Well at least she tried...?" Petra tried making it better but of course it didn't work.

"Well, I don't really know. 'Something that makes me feel alive'? What does that even mean?" you asked.

"How about me and Levi give you space to think." Petra suggested and motioned Levi to leave the garage.

Once the door closed you started thinking... what makes you feel alive?

Your mind immediately went to oxygen again but you quickly discarded the thought. You then thought of times where you felt like you were actually living a life that wasn't numb and boring.

That time when you and Eren were throwing rocks at seagulls, when you and Eren crushed the flowers in the garden that was owned by a Karen, when you and Eren broke into the middle school hallways at night, when Jean took you on the back of his motorcycle, when Eren kissed you on the ferris wheel, when you, Annie, and Pieck were dancing in your room to music. You then started realizing most of the times when you felt alive was when you were with Eren. Your eyes widen as you knew what you were going to paint.

You were going to paint Eren Yeager.

You felt yourself grow guilty as you remembered when you felt dead, Eren made you feel alive again. He made you feel happy. Eren did so many good things to you and has been nothing but good. Even the one time you and him were arguing about Jean, he meant it out of love for you. Why would Eren do all that for you? You didn't even deserve Eren.

You then started getting your paints together and sketching and outlining the work. You knew you had to put your all into this or else there's no turning back. It has to be good enough for college scouts but also good enough for Eren.

You worked none stop putting your blood, sweat, and tears into this art piece that means so much more to you than any other ones.

It has been four hours since you left the garage and Levi was getting concerned so he quietly opened the door and saw you at hard work. You were too focused on your piece you didn't even notice him there. Levi smiled lightly before closing the door and letting you be at work.

Three hours later and you still didn't leave the garage to work hard on this piece for the art competition. Levi entered in again but this time didn't try to hide that he was spying. You heard the door open but didn't bother looking.

"Hey it's 11pm. When will you be done with that thing?" Levi asked.

"I'll be done in a minute." you said not taking your eyes off the painting.

Levi just sighed knowing that you wouldn't be done in a minute. "Clean up soon." and with that, Levi left.

Now it is three am in the morning and you were finally complete with your piece. You sighed with a big smile while wiping off some paint that got on your cheek.

"I'll show this off at the art competition..." you said. "...and after I win, I'll tell you that I will date you."
