Scarlett's POV:
I woke to the sound of the maze doors opening. I went out to see Alby and Minho off.
"Bring me back a souvenir," I yelled laughing as they ran into the maze.
"Gladly," Minho yelled over his shoulder.
I walked away chuckling to myself. I went and grabbed breakfast and got to work.

The whole day I tried to focus on work, but I couldn't stop thinking about the dead griever. What was it doing there? Did the creators kill it? Do grievers die of natural causes?
I was snapped out of my daze, by Gally waving his hand in front of my face.
"Scarlett! It's time for dinner. Are you coming?"
"Yeah I am, sorry."
We started walking towards the kitchen, when I realized something.
"Hey, are Minho and Alby back yet?"
Gally looked around.
"No I don't think so, but they should be here soon. Don't worry."
"All of you guys would be dead, if I didn't worry."
"Yeah, you're right," He chuckled.

After dinner, everyone seemed to all be thinking the same thing. There's ten minutes before the doors close. And Minho and Alby aren't back.
People slowly started to group infront of the maze. I stood next to Gally, Newt and Thomas. Thomas wouldn't shut up.
"What if they don't make it back?"
"They will," Newt said kind of absently, as if trying to convince himself as well.
"But what if they don't?"
"Thomas will you shut up!" I exclaimed. "They're going to make it back!"
He went pretty quiet after that.
We heard the rumble of the doors as they began to close.
"No," I said, almost a whisper.
"Hey! Look!" Thomas yelled.
I looked up and saw Minho and Alby rounding the corner. But something was wrong. Minho was practically dragging Alby. We kept screaming at them to hurry. The doors were almost closed. I noticed out of the corner of my eye Thomas in a position, that looked like was going to run.
"Thomas, don't even think about it!"
But it was too late. Thomas sprinted between the nearly closed walls. Then they shut completely. I felt my knees go weak. I had only just started to get to know the greenie, but Alby and Minho were some of my bestfriends.
Gally put his arm around me and pulled me into a hug. I couldn't cry, or speak. I didn't know how to feel. I felt Newt touch my shoulder,  but then he walked away. All the gladers slowly started heading away from the doors, to bed. Gally pulled back from the hug and looked down at me.
"They're going to be fine. You were, so they will be too."
"Alby might not be. He was hurt pretty bad."
"I know. Let's just go to bed."
I walked towards my hut. When I got there I got straight into bed and just stared at the ceiling. As I drifted off, I thought about how Gally said they would be fine, just like I was. I started to dream about that night I was stuck in the maze.

A year and a half prior:
It was a regular day I the glade. Of course besides Ben being stung. Everybody had heard. He was under close observation, until he got better. I went to the forrest to grab some things for one of the builders, when I heard a twig snap behind me.
"Hello?"
I watched Ben emerge from the darkness of the trees.
"Ben? What are you doing out of the medjacks hut? Are you feeling better?"
I had an uneasy feeling about his presence. And I was right. At that moment he lunged and grabbed on to me. He started dragging me through the woods. I was kicking and thrashing, but his grip was too strong. His hand was over my mouth so I couldn't scream. Then, he spoke.
"I never understood why they sent a girl up here. So I should just get rid of you. Make sure you don't ever come back."
I noticed we were getting closer to the doors, but were still concealed by a few trees, so nobody knew what was going on. Finally we made it to the doors. Before I could do anything, Ben pushed me in. I tried to get up, but I hurt my shoulder badly and could barely stand. I faintly heard voices coming closer, but they were soon overpowered by the sound of the doors closing. I mustered all my strength and stood up. Through the small crack between the doors. I saw my brother's face, for what I thought was going to be the last time. And then they closed. I knew I was doomed.
Fortunately, I made it through the night. I had scrapes and bruises everywhere and a searing pain through my shoulder, but I survived the hell we call the maze. I walked my way back to the doors. I was close to turning the corner when I heard them open. I also heard voices, but they seemed to be fading away. I turned the corner and saw everyone walking away, Gally included. I tried calling out to them, but my voice was hoarse.
"Gally!" It barely came out as a whisper. I finally gathered everything I had and yelled. "Gally!"
His head whipped around, and a look of pure joy spread across his face when he saw me. I walked as fast as I could but I was in a lot of pain. I finally crossed the threshold of the maze and collapsed into Gally's arms.
"Oh God, I thought you were dead."
"You can't get rid of me that easily," I chuckled lightly.
"See I told you she'd make it you shanks!" I heard Minho yell from the back. "Come on, let's get you to the medjacks."
I had actually survived a night in the maze. Something no one had ever done. But maybe they could be the next ones to do it.
