Callie

Why was everyone so happy? Why was everyone laughing and having fun? They shouldn't be. The sky should be cloudy--it should be raining. But no, it has to be perfect.

Let me tell you something about me: today I was pretty miserable. Even though it was Valentines Day, I was sad and tired. There was no reason to love.

Everything was going fine. I had a good job, a nice caring boyfriend and friends. But that all changed.

The day started when Jacob--my boyfriend--made me breakfast in bed. Then I got a call from my boss. "Hey Callie." He greeted grimly.

"Daniel?" I asked. "Why are you calling me at eight AM on a Saturday? Did something happen? Has Sadie messed up--"

"You're fired." He said.

"What? Have I done something wrong?!" I cried.

"I'm very disappointed in you. You should know what you did."

"If this is a joke, then it's a damn good one."

"It's not a joke. You're fired." Then he hung up. I sighed, and continued eating my bacon and eggs.

As the day progressed on, I grew more miserable. It's like I still have the curse of Friday the Thirteenth. Then at lunch Jacob and I went on a picnic at the park. I haven't told him about getting fired yet.

"Hey look, we need to talk." He started nervously.

My heart starting beating faster. Usually when your boyfriend wants to talk to you it isn't a good sign. "Yeah?" I croaked, my throat dry.

"Look, I'm breaking up with you." He said. Then he stood and left. The tears came. Why? Why does the world have to be so cruel?!

I sobbed on the ground for ages. Then I gathered up all of the stuff and put it in the basket before going back to mine and Jacob's apartment. I didn't think that anyone was home so I put the basket on the kitchen bench and walked into the bedroom.

My eyes are scarred for life. There, furiously making out was my best friend Emma and Jacob. I went up to them, slapped my ex-best friend, punched my boyfriend before pulling my promise ring off and throwing it at him. It hit him in the eye.

"YOU IDIOT!" I screamed at him. "I HATE YOU!!" Then I whirled on my friend. "You bitch." Then I grabbed my suitcase and piled all my stuff into it before going out of the apartment and out on the street, hauling the suitcase behind me.

A plan formed in my head: I would get a plane and fly to a different country. Luckily my passport was still valid, so I went to a hotel for the night and organised my things before booking a flight on my phone and going to bed.

When I woke up the next day, I signed out of the hotel and caught a taxi to the airport where I had a quick breakfast before checking in to my flight and going through customs.

Before I knew it, I was boarding my flight to Paris. You may be thinking, why Paris? Well I've always wanted to go to Paris, so this was the perfect opportunity.

But when I got there, I realised one thing: I had nowhere to stay. So I got a taxi to a friend's place. She had moved here a few years ago. We still kept in touch, but it was tricky with the time zones and all.

When the cab pulled up at the house, I got out. The house wasn't very big, just one story with two bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, kitchen and a dining room. I knocked on the door.

"Callie?" A voice asked. Standing there was my friend, Reyna. She had long dark brown hair and an imitating face. No one knew why she had moved to France, but rumour was that she couldn't love someone so she moved to the city of love to cure her heart.

"Reyna." I breathed before she crushed me in a hug.

"Come in, come in." She stepped aside and I entered the house, setting my suitcase in the hall. "So what brings you to Paris?" She asked.

"My boyfriend broke up with me." I sighed.

"Jacob? You should've stayed single." She grinned. "I know a lot of girls who have sworn off boys. You could join them."

"Nah." I smirked.

"Coffee?" She asked. I nodded.

We talked for hours. Then we went out to look at the Eiffel Tower. At the top, we weren't the only ones there. A couple was standing at the railing, hands entwined and looking at each other with love and adoration.

"Hey lovebirds!" Reyna called. "Are you going to suck each other's faces off or not?"

The boy--a guy with sea green eyes and messy black hair--looked at Reyna and smirked. "Oh come on Reyna!" He cried.

"You know each other?" I asked.

"Callie, meet Percy and Annabeth." She introduced.

And at that moment, I knew how much they loved each other. Maybe I would never find true love.

But that last line is false. I did find love. Love in books. (Even if they made me cry most of the times and have a feels attack.)

A/N: Scratch the AR special. I went to write it and realised that it could wait.
