Chapter 40

-Nora POV-

I didn't waste any time. I took off to the direction of Eren and Armin.
I finally found them, Berthold was unconscious and Eren was with my father.
"Eren? Where is he?" I asked and he looked at me. "Where is Armin?"

Eren was looking at a burned corpse and I froze. "No... no... this isn't happening"
My heart broke... I screamed and let the tears roll over my face.
'He's not gone... he can't be... please, don't let it be true'

I held my hand above my heart and screamed my pain out.
"No, he's not gone yet, Nora! Look! He's still breathing. We can save him with the injection and have him eat Berthold!" shouted Eren. "He's still alive!"

I walked past my father to Armin and listened for his breathing, it was barely there.
Feeling his breath, made me breathe again...
"Armin... hang on" I said.
"That's Armin?" said Mikasa, she had joined us.

"Captain! Get the syringe!" screamed Eren.
My dad slowly got out the syringe.
"Turn Armin into a Titan and we can have him eat Berthold! Hurry up and inject him!" screamed Eren.

"Right" said dad.
Mikasa fired off a red signal.
"Armin, it's Eleanor. Hang on, okay... you promised... don't give up on our promise" I said.
Suddenly, Floch climbed up on the roof, with Erwin on his back.

"Levi... Captain... I finally found you. It's the Commander, he's hurt. His stomach is destroyed, and his insides are all turned into shreds. The bleeding won't stop, I thought an injection might be able to help him. But... what do you think?" he asked.

'No... please... no... he'll chose Erwin... and I'll lose Armin...'
My dad took back the box...
"Captain Levi..." said Eren.
My dad checked the breathing of Erwin. "It's faint... but he's breathing" he said. "Erwin, you're alive. You know what has to happen. Erwin gets the shot"

Eren stood up angry. "You can't... you told us you'd use it on Armin" he said.
"I'm going to revive the person who can save humanity" said dad and another tear rolled down my cheek. I looked at Armin, who kept struggling to breathe...

'Why is this happening...'
Mikasa drew her blade...
"You two... do you even have the faintest damn clue what you're doing? It's Erwin, the Commander of the Scouts. And you're telling me to watch him die? There's no time for this, just get out of my way" said dad.

But Eren grabbed the box with the injection.
"Eren, check your emotions" said dad.
"Sorry, Captain. Can't do that. Tell me, why didn't you give Armin the injection right away?" asked Eren.

"I was thinking about Erwin. Considering the chance that he might be alive" said dad.
"But you couldn't have known that Floch would carry the Commander here. There's no way you would've seen that coming" said Eren.

"You aren't wrong, Eren. But the fact remains he's here now. So I'll revive him" said dad.
Eren grabbed the box tighter and my father punched him away in the face.
Making Mikasa react. She pushed my father down and held her blade to his throat.
"Mikasa!" I screamed. "Don't!"

"You know just as well as I do, without Erwin's leadership... humanity can't beat the Titans!" said my dad.
"He's right, Mikasa. Don't be crazy" said Floch. "There's too much at stake here"
"No. It's the same with Armin" said Eren and he got up. "He's just as important"
"Eren!" said Mikasa.

"Think about it! Think about what he's done! His plan to save Trost with that bolder, he's the one what Annie was, it was his idea to avoid the Titans by coming here at night, he's the only reason we uncovered Reiner's hiding spot and the only reason we defeated Berthold!" shouted Eren. "We only got this far because of Armin! I can't save humanity and neither can the Commander! But Armin can! Tell him Mikasa!"
