Chapter Eight: How I see her.

It has been months since my family and I moved to Pittsburgh. At first, I thought I just had to go through a single year of high school and be out of this town but recently I have started believing I have more reasons to stay here. I have friends. I have family.

Sarah and Sam have accepted me as a friend in a very little time but the person who encourages me to get out of bed every morning is Emma. I wake up every day and look over at the couch she sat on and the only thing I remember is that she said that we should do it another time. Maybe that day is today. It was the first time when I saw her at Sarah's party. She did not mingle with the crowd like the others. When she came forward to help Nina, I knew exactly the generous heart she has. I drove to the party in my own car that night but when I saw that Emma was going to drive Nina home, I did not want to miss the chance. After she dropped me home, I came back to Sarah's house in the middle of the night to drive my car back home.

"What are you doing after school?" We were sitting in the cafeteria during lunch.

"What do you have in mind?" She smiled at me.

"I want to show you something."

"Pick me up at 6:00."

I rang her doorbell at 6:00 sharp.

"You never miss a minute, do you?" she said letting me in. "Make yourself at home. I will change and then we can go."

I looked around her house. It was clean, almost like no one lived there. There were pictures of her family at the mantel. She resembled her mother in looks but her smile looked just like her father's.

"My grandpa took this picture of us on Christmas 6 years ago. It was the best Christmas I had."

"Sure you all look happy."

"Yeah we were." she said with a sigh. "Shall we go?"

"Yeah."

"Where are we going?"

"Somewhere special." I said as I started the engine.

It was a 30 minute long drive from her house. I parked the car in my usual spot.

"Come on."

We walked through the woods until we reached a clearing.

"Is it the part where you murder me and tell everyone that Emma was just a dream that everyone had?"

"Oh it will take a lot of persuasion. I might just tell them that you eloped with your secret lover." She started snorting just like she did every other time that she laughed. I could not help but crack a smile.

"This place is beautiful. I didn't know Pittsburgh had some place like this." She was walking a step ahead of me but I could sense the the excitement in her voice.

We were standing in a field full of yellow flowers. As far as you could see, the land appeared yellow. I had never walked through it to see what lies on the other side. I didn't plan to. The beauty of this scene is what I think of every time I come here. It never occurred to me that I have to see more. We sat down on a mounted rock.

"I came here a week after we moved. I was partially lost in the woods the first time and then discovered this place. It took a few days to remember the path but then it became a routine. I come and sit here most days, alone."

"You have found yourself quite a place."

"I can share it with you." I said nudging her, "It can be our spot."

"I would like that very much." She looked at me.

Her smile is affectionate. Her pink flawless lips curve into the perfect shape every time she smiles. Her eyes are brown, just like her hair. Every time I look into them, I feel like I am drowning in secrets. She is the most beautiful girl I have met. I can see that she is looking into my eyes too.

Just when I was narrating her beauty to myself, her hand reached for my face. I could feel the warmth of her hand against my cheek. We both leaned forward. I felt her lips pressing against mine. Her breath was rapid, almost like she was hurrying into it. The moment felt intense. I began to lean into her when she pulled away and started looking ahead.

"I am sorry." She said but there was no sign of regret on her face.

"I am not." I said looking at the sunset. In that moment, I knew I was falling for her.
