Rusty and his littermates

   Quick Fact: Firestar's mother is named Nutmeg. (I did NOT come up with that, FYI. The Erin's did.)

    

   Four kits squirmed around a brown tabby she-cat's belly. One of them, a white tom, opened it's eyes. His eyes were green and he looked up at his mother. Then another kit, a tabby and white she-kit, opened her eyes and they were also green. She blinked many times, and everything was blurry. Their mother licked their heads fondly.

   The white tom started to stand up. But his weak legs couldn't work on their own. His mother nudged him gently to get him up. He look his first wobbly step on the soft matress. Then another. Soon he was all the way over to his brother's side. But then he accidentally stepped on his brother's firey orange tail. The orange kit squeaked in pain. The white kit fell over on top of him. The brown and white she-kit wanted to join in. She walked over slowly and tackled her brothers.

   Then a human came walking up to them on it's giant paws. The brown she-cat hissed at the human to get away from her kits. The human obeyed and walked back out. She scooted her kits closer to her belly.

   The orange tom gave a kick. Then he opened his eyes slowly. They were the same color as the other kits' eyes. He looked at his pelt and squeaked. He nuzzled closer to his mother and started to feed. 

   The last kit, a paler orange she-kit, opened her eyes. They were blue, the only different color than the other kit's. But she closed them again and started to feed along with her other littermates.

   "I will name you Princess." The tabby touched the brown and white she-kit's head. "And you, Cotton." She touched the white kits' head and he mewled.

   "You Flower, after my sister." She licked the light orange kit's head. "What should I name you?" She looked at the orange tom quizziaclly.

   Then she looked at a rusty pipe in the corner. She got an idea. "Rusty! Because you'r coat looks like it has rust on it. Your father had the same coat as you, little one. He was a great cat, and you will be a great cat just as he was. But now he walks in the sky. I am sorry you'll never get to meet him."
