KakaObi Oneshots

Only Here To Help Pt. 2

Old A/N: I got a request from the very special Zalenciaaa to make a part two for the last oneshot I wrote.

I didn't really know what to write about exactly since I never plan to make a part 2 for my oneshots when I write it but I tried to make this less sad and bring closure I guess. This took me forever like even my longest 7000 word oneshot didn't take as long as this for me to write omfg. This is my second longest oneshot at 6.8K words. I really hope you like it, it is fluffy compared to the first part. It's dramatic as fuck too.

A year and a half has passed since the initial incident. Obito and Kakashi were dating and even living together. Obito mostly kept his promise to not be a dick to Kakashi anymore. Obito was still on bad terms with their sensei Minato. Their team was disbanded, seeing as Rin was dead and Obito incapacitated.

By this point it seemed like a forever thing and that Obito would never walk again. Although that wasn't something that was entirely confirmed it might as well be. Something he had to come to terms with which initially made him even more angry and depressed now he felt sort of content with his situation. Although the circumstances were bleak, he still had Kakashi and he still loved so he tried to be more optimistic about it. It wasn't always easy though.

He figured he should stop sulking because he could have died, it could have been worse. But being content didn't mean he didn't wake up in the middle of the night with phantom limb pain, it didn't mean he was entirely happy either. It just meant he would stop feeling sorry for himself. It was easy to distract himself from what was bothering him during the day but nights were hard so he felt better when Kakashi was home.

Obito disagreed when Minato suggested Kakashi join ANBU to keep himself busy. An argument ensued and Kakashi thought that Obito just didn't want to be left alone. That was partially the case, but also Obito didn't think harder and more violent missions were the best idea. Kakashi thought Obito didn't see how he woke up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night, or how he wouldn't sleep at all. He'd wash his hands almost methodically, consistently the point of redness on his palm.

So yeah this decision wasn't about to make Obito happy with their sensei. He was already still passive aggressive towards Minato now and he holds him somewhat responsible for the incident. Minato, the famed yellow flash could have been there to prevent Rin's death and his life-changing injury. Kakashi tries to convince him to not hold it against him, but that wasn't working very much. Not at all actually.

It wasn't something he could easily forgive. Minato was fine with being the person Obito chose to direct his anger towards. He did feel responsible for the entire thing. Rin had died, and Obito and Kakashi were both messed up mentally and Obito couldn't walk, and probably never would again. His team really was fucked and he felt solely responsible for it. He was supposed to be their teacher, a guide for them to become successful, he became Hokage but couldn't do right by his students. He still checked in with Kakashi as often as he could. (Meaning weekly really) Seeing as Obito wouldn't talk to him, Kakashi was his only contact.

Kakashi went on missions more frequently now, but not as frequently as other shinobi. This was probably due to Minato and Obito's insistence he shouldn't. It wasn't that Kakashi wanted to be away from Obito, but rather he always needed something to do. Like a smoker wanting their cigarette, it was more of an addiction. Kakashi knew this of course, but it wasn't like it was ever going to be brought up. So if it was never acknowledged it wasn't a problem right?

Obito became less anxious when Kakashi was away having now become more self-sufficient. Kakashi consolidated the things around the house, making things easily reachable for Obito, nothing higher than arms reach for him sitting down. Obito could get around his house with a wheelchair and could leave his house with a ramp as well.
